A CHANGE IN PLANS

I have small cell lung cancer. Yes, I know smoking can cause lung cancer. What I didn’t know was that it can take you down in a matter of months.

My prognosis is not good and it is currently being estimated to be about three months. This site and my other four will remain on the internet as long as I can keep them up. I hope to keep them up for at least five years.

This site has been the joy of my life and carried me through my darkest moments. Stay tuned as I update and clean the sites for the next several months and thank you for reading LIP News.

Becky, your site and all the work and passion that went into has been invaluable being able to follow and understand local events. Checking on lionews has been a highlight of my day for several years now. Can’t thank you enough. Praying for you.

I’ve read your site almost every day since I retired in 2009 from Lancaster County Social Services and moved back to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. You have been my main link with my old home town and the City and County in which I worked for seven years. Your web page continues to speak truth to power. Thank you for sharing your current status with your avid readers. If there is anything any of us can do, I am sure you have only to ask. You are a gem not only at what you do, but by who you are. St Irenaeus once wrote: “The greatest glory of God is a person fully alive.” I think that describes you well. Shalom!

Please get a second opinion, and a third if the two diagnoses conflict:

From Cancer.net: Sometimes, patients who are told that their lung cancer is curable do not live as long as those who are told that their lung cancer cannot be cured. The important thing to remember is that lung cancer is treatable at any stage, and these treatments have been proven to help people with lung cancer live longer with better quality of life.

So sorry to hear of your prognosis. Your site has been the beacon of unfiltered Lancaster, Pennsylvania news. Very sad day indeed. Stay strong, keep the faith.

I am so sorry Becky. Words cannot express how much I have counted on your website for all sorts of reasons.

I will continue to bother the powerful regarding Erma Kaylor’s murder investigation. She deserves the same respect as those other career-enhancing DNA results.

I will email you soon. You’ll know it’s me because it will be from the same email address I use here.

You live in a city with tons of research hospitals. I’m hoping against hope that one of the new modalities will work to extend your life.

I will say more in my email. I don’t belong to a God Squad but if there is a God, the prayers of believers are coming your way.

You are one gutsy broad, Becky. And that’s why I’ve followed you all these years.
