I will come back to Police Chief John Bey and Mayor Sorace when this site returns on Wednesday, July 7th with coverage of Tuesday night’s, July 6th city council committee meeting.
This afternoon – some good news! Tony Dastra makes his run for mayor official! What happened to being an Independent, Tony? Oh, well – I’ll take a gold goose!

When will the Lancaster Police Chief and Mayor Sorace address all of the unsolved murders in Lancaster? When will the killer of 83-year-old Erma Kaylor have their DNA sent to Parabon? What is taking so long? Where is District Attorney Heather Adams?
Please check back later today.

I will come back to the unsolved murder of Hipolito Gonzalez tomorrow. How’s that investigation going, Police Chief John Bey? We haven’t heard a word from you about it.
The below is part of the agenda for the city council committee meeting on July 6th (click here for the full agenda). If John Bey does not make an absolute commitment to moving to Lancaster, council should not appoint him as chief. Period.
And as for increasing the Mayor’s salary – is that a joke? The current mayor  is not stable.
This site will publish tomorrow and then go on holiday break until Wednesday July 7th when I will report on the previous evening’s city council committee meeting.

His name is Hipolito Gonzalez and his murder in March of this year remains unsolved.
Please check back later today.

Credit due to Mayor Sorace. “All you did was list green infrastructure,” why don’t you do your own research (hint: GOOGLE).

    * Edited by Becky to delete the link. It was not working.

    • Anonymous says:

Why don’t you be specific? Green infrastructure. And…..

      • Anonymous says:

        A great read.

        * Edited by Becky again to delete the link. It is not loading for me and it’s also taking so long it makes me nervous.Perhaps you should describe what you are trying to link to.

        • Anonymous says:

It’s Lancaster city’s green infrastructure plan. Google: “Lancaster city green infrastructure” and you will find a 240 page pdf describing the actions and goals of the plan.

Not sure why you’re having issues loading it it loads up in seconds and it’s from the city of Lancaster which is the cities official site

All y’all haters will have something negative to say about this rather than kudos to a strong leader, a woman, Mayor Sorace. We love you Mayor!!!

I know Tony Danza. Is he still driving for Sunshine Cab?

    • Becky says:

Thanks. I fixed it. Lol! Too excited about going on vacation!

      • Anonymous says:

Lmao I’ll take 30 yrs of Sorace over a cabbie. Young T should get a trade at Thaddeus Stevens.

This Mayor Dickina. And sheeeeee’s done what for Langcrackster?

          • Anonymous says:

            1) Green infrastructure 2) policies protecting LGBTQIA+
            3) hired a black police chief – disbanding the network of good ole boys
            4) managed city govt through a pandemic
            5) brought calm to a city crippled by police brutality

          • Anonymous says:

            Anon 1:54:
            1. Green infrastructure instituted long before Sorace
            2. Lancaster gay community has been protected since inception which was when Lancaster was founded
            3. Chief Sadler was black
            4. Whomever was mayor would have done same
            5. Lancaster was never crippled by police brutality

            Brush up on your history.

-Raised a Pride flag over City Hall. Symbolism over substance.
-Lost total control of the city when BLM & ANTFA were running amok.
-Fired a Police Chief that she praised up and down when she hired him.
-Crime rate in Lancaster is still out pacing PA and U.S. averages.
-Homeless are living in Binn’s Park and Musser Park.
          -Rick Gray instituted green infrastructure
-Managed city government during pandemic lockdown. Like streaming City Council meetings on Zoom?
-What police brutality? You mean like arresting people breaking the law and using force when needed?
          -Former Chief Sadler is black.
-The old boy network is alive and well. She just became a part of it.

Troll definition. Someone who who don’t agree with.

          • Anonymous says:

            Example of the hate:
            1) Sorace didn’t advance the green infrastructure agenda, Mayor dick did

            2) Sorace put in bike lanes (aka green infrastructure) that no one uses

It can’t be both, she either advanced the green infrastructure agenda for a sustainable future or she didn’t – and the answer is clearly YES!

        • Anonymous says:

No. All you did was list “Green infrastructure”. Just green infrastructure. Ok, green infrastructure what? Bicycle lanes. Nobody uses them.

        • Anonymous says:

Try not having a hissy when you don’t agree with someone.

  6. Earl says:

    Gee Wiz……
Somebody probably made eye contact with someone or smiled at someone’s girlfriend which of course is a complete sign of disrespect .

  7. Anonymous says:

Doesn’t say they were shot. says injured.

  8. Anonymous says:

Four shot first block W Orange last night. I am sooo happy Lancaser’s mayor is flying a gay flag on city hall. It just makes all the shooting in Lancaster so insignificant.

  9. Earl says:

    So Becky,
When do you leave for Wildwood ? Couple weeks I’ll be in Cape May !

  10. Real change says:

She raised the pride flag on city hall!!!! Cheers!!!!!

What other Lancaster mayor has done that!!

    • Anonymous says:

      The Corn Wagon has corn!!

    • Anonymous says:

She has done the difficult and extraordinary work of installing a bike lane on Walnut St.

      • Incredulous says:

Yeah – in the middle of the street….how in the hell is someone going to remove snow form that bike lane between the sidewalk and the parked cars? It’s entertaining to watch cars pull up behind a parked car and sit until the driver figures it out.

    • Anonymous says:

      Uh huh. And what else?

    • Anonymous says:

-Raised a Pride flag over city hall
-Put in a bicycle no one uses. Well her for photo op’s with bicycle riding police.
-Fired a police chief that she praised up and down when she hired him

Will one of her cheer leaders explain why she should get a $25,000 raise, what’s she done to make the $80,000 a year she now makes? Most people when they ask for a raise, give reasons for deserving a raise. Ok Ms Mayor. What have you done?

      • Anonymous says:

My eyes bugged out thinking she was asking for a 30% raise. But looking it up I’m seeing the raise in question is just to consider continuing 1.5% increase a year past 2021. That is not unreasonable.

        • Anonymous says:

You get a raise if you’ve done something to earn it. Taxpayers are her boss. I say; minimum wage and no benefits.

          • Anonymous says:

The mayor’s position should have reasonable pay. If the current mayor is bad the remedy is to vote than out. If Tony dastra wins, he will get the raise.

  11. Anonymous says:

I don’t believe they should precondition Bey to move to the city. It’s currently not an ordinance and no previous chief had to do that. I would support an ordinance to make the next chief a city resident. That would give plenty of notice to any potential successors to get into the city.

    • Becky says:

They supposedly did a national search. I think it’s reasonable to assume that had they chosen someone from out of the area that they would move to Lancaster City. I think Bey absolutely should.

      • Anonymous says:

I thought it was required that LPD officers had to live either in the city or within a twenty mile radius.

        • Becky says:

No. I think they extended the area where they could live a couple of years ago. Used to be 50 miles from Penn Square. Now I think it can be in any surrounding county. They do give candidates civil service points if they live in city. I will make sure this is correct.

        • Becky says:

All sworn members of the Bureau of Police are permitted to reside within Lancaster County and any contiguous county (Berks, Chester, Dauphin, Lebanon, and York) within Pennsylvania.

U.S. VETERAN’S PREFERENCE – Ten points for veteran’s preference will be added to the scores of eligible veterans who pass the examination and have completed at least one full term of service. You must be honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces. Upload a DD214, member 4, to your profile if you wish for your eligibility to be reviewed.

RESIDENCE PREFERENCE – Three points will be added to the scores of candidates who have lived within the city’s limits for two years prior to the test date.

Manor Township’s police chief has lived in Berks County the entire time he’s been chief and he SUCKS. Absolutely no clue as to what goes on in this county OR Manor and could not care less. I think it’s ridiculous that a cop doesn’t have to live in the same county!!!

A raise?!?!? What has mayor Dickina done that’s worth more than minimum wage?

    • Anonymous says:

Maybe she will write a personalized haiku for every block of the city. #haikubyblock #neighborhoods #lancaster “cityauthentic

      • Anonymous says:

First and foremost, the clone mayor is to do the bidding of LNP and PSP. An aside. We should all be grateful she’s not prefacing every spin with “Frankly”. Unsolved homicides, shots fired, homeless, homeless urinating and dumping on people’s property, prostitution, sex trafficking, high property taxes, pot holes. These are thinks that don’t sell condo’s. The solution is to ignore them. It’s the Lancaster County way!

  14. Anonymous says:

An unsolved murder in Lancaster Sh*ty? No way! Law enforcement was never a high priority for the Dickster, and apparently, neither for his clone. A Sh*ty Authentic.

  15. Anonymous says:

Wow. The city has quite a number of unsolved killings. Maybe some federal funds for a cold case department would be in order.

    • Anonymous says:

They’d prefer to buy $10,000 bikes for patrols with their grant money- they’ll buy them from the connected Hush Money bikes related to CH&E follow the money

      • Anonymous says:

Ch&e is building the fire station. Why wouldn’t they get bikes from non profit Commonwheel?

        • Anonymous says:

Common wheel is the non profit arm of hush money- big dem donors!! Think C in CH&E.

Willow Valley is coming to the city. Things such as Mr. Gonzalez’s murder and drive by shooting on the 400 block of W Vine St are not to be made public. It is not good for the optics.
