** – * WHEN CAN COUNCIL ADD TO THE AGENDA?

**   Has anyone seen Earl? Earl, listen to me: Put the beets down. Put them down now, Earl.
Look! There’s no ketchup shortage! Target has a 32 oz. bottle for $2.89! Put the beets down, Earl! Your wife will not like this one little beet!

BEET IT!

On a lighter note – actually this is a very serious note and when you have to buy all new kitchen appliances and paint your entire kitchen – remember – you were warned.
Do not make beet ketchup. There is a shortage of single use ketchup packets! There is no shortage of ketchup! There is no reason to make beet ketchup. In fact, you have to be out of your mind to even think about attempting this.
This whole article raises one simple question: Why?

WHERE WAS SMITH-WADE-EL?

Lancaster city council president Ismail Smith-Wade-El was absent from last night’s city council meeting. Vice-President Pete Soto said his and also councilwoman Janet Diaz’s absences were “excused” but didn’t say why they were absent.
There was a last minute addition to the agenda involving opening bank accounts with Fulton Bank. Patrick Hopkins claimed a huge savings by refinancing the bond for the construction of the two fire stations.
*
Sharon Allen Spann, a city employee, gave a lengthy report on the activities of the Lancaster City Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative. She said 70% of the city employees are white, so according to the city demographics she presented (see above), the city has a long way to go.
Tony Dastra wants to be on the Traffic Commission or the Planning Commission and sent his resume to the council members.
The mayor had no report last night.
Please check back later today.

Medical MJ is legal. Drug test diabetics for insulin. Drug test the anxious for anti anxiety meds. Drug test the city police for roids. Drug test the city employees for nicotine since I pay for their healthcare through taxes.

Are you inferring council president has a medical condition requiring use of marijuana? Prescription marijuana doesn’t normally keep one stoned.

        • Anonymous says:

Prescription marijuana doesn’t keep one stoned? Not Even sure what that means do you have a medical marijuana card? Do you consume the medicine? Council person may have a bad back or some thing, maybe that’s why council person was not at the meeting yesterday as well. When you conspiracy nuts get going you surely don’t stop.

          • Becky says:

If his back is that bad that he can’t attend a Zoom meeting from his home then he needs to step back from politics and get on disability!

          • Anonymous says:

ADA , work place required to make accommodations. His accommodations include excused absences for his conditions. Gonna argue w his doctors and the ADA? The system would rather have people try to work instead of “getting disability” like you suggested.

LOL SAVINGS ! Savings is where you add money to your account.

Making a $1,900,000 mistake, then shuffling money around to make up for the error isn’t savings.

The question that Council should have asked is, “If this ‘savings’ was available, then why did it take blundering the fire department budget for you to discover it ?” Why does it always take a mistake by the City Administration to find these savings ? Council is asleep at the wheel.

Because they are not qualified and uneducated. Or they are in cahoots.

I don’t want to live in a technocratic world where we are ruled over by professional-managerial class oligarch’s based on their arbitrary and esoteric professional credentials. Council is supposed to be comprised of regular citizens meant to represent the interests of the regular citizens. Currently, only one of them actually does this. Coincidently, she is the only one not endorsed by the Democratic Party of Lancaster. Voters need to look at their candidates beyond the mono-party endorsement.

Tin foil hatter. “Technocrats” but ya do everything on a smart phone. Ordinary citizens should be educated, why set the bar so low?

    Picture this,
Old Earl is laying on his recliner with a big smile on his face ! See first you show up late and after you continue to get away with it then you push it .

    I’ll behave now
    Earl

    • Becky says:

Do behave! And please provide a source for your previous comment which will not be approved until you do so. And also be specific about Lancaster city and county. Thanks.

Way too many city employees. Start by cutting the CITY health department and “animal control” which are both a joke. Some retirement incentives to overpaid long-time cops, too. And whatever happened to the deal reported on here where they were hiring a biz adm. guy or something and Hopkins was being paid a “consultancy” fee? He needs to be fired. Now.

We need to grow government agencies. Increase taxes on the wealthy for social programs in City.

Beginning with the Dick, does anyone know by what percent they’ve risen to now that his clone is in office?

      • Becky says:

Hopkins is a full-time very well paid employee. I think you are thinking of Randy Patterson who still heads/oversees the CRIZ program and I believe is being paid as a consultant (he retired). I will look into the other matter.

        • Anonymous says:

They made a program that only benefits themselves and created a full time position to oversee it? That is f*cked up!!!

        • Anonymous says:

Hopkins is really the only grossly overpaid city employee that I remember seeing the last time I went through the budget.

      • Anonymous says:

I’m sure that count also includes all the employees of the water department. Which serves a much larger area than just Lancaster City.

Checked demographics on four different sites. all different. Cherry picking to further narrative maybe. I want to see the pie chart for city employees.
