**  Please see the beginning of tonight’s city council meeting agenda below and the “Mayor’s Annual Budget Address” (the full agenda is here). Hold on to your seats folks, this is not going to be pretty.
*  Speaking of LNP and their Marriott Hotel, they are being sued for civil rights violations (see below).
UPDATE 11-24 – The below is from NewsLanc.com (click here). Why didn’t Mayor Sorace mention this in her cry for money?  Does she have a secret “agreement” with LNP?
I will come back to Mayor Sorace’s special column tomorrow. Today I received the below email from a Lancaster name I recognize but have never met and I have no idea of his “real” email address. The subject line said “SICK”:
I said I was available and sent my phone number. I received the below in response:
I responded I was not able to do it. Does anyone know what the end game is in these emails?

If Harrisburg can’t help, we’ll be faced with the same set of bad choices that were the subject of another newspaper article from Nov. 10, 1982: “Should Lancaster City Cut Services or Raise Taxes?”
From the LNP “Special from Mayor Sorace” (click here).
What a “hoot!” Mayor Sorace talks about 1982 and even mentions former Mayor Art Morris. But there’s not one word about the convention center and LNP’s Marriott Hotel.
Please check back later today.

So what do you guys think about the new chief?

About that scam. In Manitoba a lot of retired clergy got a similar email from our “Bishop” with a narrative straight out of a Hallmark movie script, except for the bad spelling. We were asked to buy online gift cards for cancer patients and send them to him with their PINs, but while the Bishop’s name and title were correct, it used a phony gmail account instead of his denominational email address. Anyway, due to Covid, the church office was closed, and it took a while for us to contact him. Later an article about this scam from two church leaders appeared in our Winnipeg Free Press. Using some old-timer tricks learned from my kids, I got the scammer’s personal address and told him the authorities had been notified, and that I hoped he wouldn’t catch Covid in prison (I, too, can spin a tale). Bottom line, we were told to report this to our email company as phishing. I guess the old Nigerian Prince died or something. This is the latest variety. Maybe we should blame it on Trump. He’s been pretending to be president for four years and is now scamming supporters for cash for “his legal challenges” which actually go into his Political Action Committee coffers.

First red flag is the person not being able to purchase online. Second red flag; can’t sent or receive calls, but can e-mail. Phone calls can be traced. Say you buy the item. Mail the receipt (likely a P.O. box), and on the receipt is your credit card number.

Um…She needs to look within for budget cuts. Start with firing the idiots responsible for MAW. Lawyers included.

Mayor Sorace’s article says 30% of property is tax exempt.

  6. nope says:

Averaging 3 million a year to consultants and contracted services.
Bids and contracts opened in private and not approved by council.
Averaging 14 million a year in debt service.
Debt contracts allowing ‘excess’ money to be spent on items at the discretion of the mayors office.
That doesn’t sound like a revenue problem.

Thank you. I really don’t understand how, with no sense of irony, constantly blame the county and state for her budget problems.

    Serious reply.

They are trying to scam you out of money by using another person’s name.

Contact the person whose name it really belongs to and tell them that fraud is being committed in their name.

Get their real email address and forward the phony email. That way they can contact the authorities and caution others not to be scammed in their name

Dumbocrat Mayor Dickina has to go back to Art Morris to blame her inept leadership on? The taxpayer will be stuck propping up Langcrapster. Socialism.
