Today’s LNP editorial (click here).

This is a little late and LNP takes credit for what other news outlets first brought to light (the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), but no, Smucker most certainly should not have been given the preferential treatment he received.

  1. huh? says:

The LNP waits and watches the comments made before they write an editorial years too late.

If people on their comments section and on Facebook are universally disgusted then voila! An editorial that’s already been written in other newspapers and magazines. Read the coverage in a recent Cosmopolitan magazine.

The Amish depend on the LNP for their news. They can’t afford to lose a single customer.

Double standard regarding Amish much? No bail, what a privilege. If the old perv was too frail for jail he should have been put in a health care facility, far away from Lancaster Co, handcuffed to bed, no visitors, no tv and paid for by family and community until time 0f trial!!! Ashworth and DA had options and chose the path of least resistance. These “plain sect” treatment centers that have become popular in the past 10 years, with no licensing or even trained personnel should not be allowed to intermingle with anyone involved in the criminal justice system, make that anyone. From arrest to sentencing this has been a farce and disgrace!! At least now there is some justice. Is our judicial seeking help for the children involved?

    • my goodness says:

Is anyone caring for the children that were involved? This pathetic situation warrants a bit more than food and shelter. I read that they were isolated, yet more victimization. These innocent child victims MUST be provided with the help that they need. It’s obvious that the Amish community is unable and unwilling to do this. Someone? Anyone?

      • huh? says:

From what I’ve read, the girls are irrevocably ruined. At least in the opinion of the social worker who was interviewed. They have been removed from their homes and placed separately.

They have lost everything. Physically, mentally, emotionally, family connections. They are being held in place to protect others due to their mental ruination by Smucker.

How did their parents survive this monster? Or were their parents as broken as he is and did not know what normal is?

And up to this sentencing, he was placed in an unlocked situation where he was free to ogle every child and move around freely. While these children are sentences to a lifetime of sorrow and ruin.

F*ck every piece of shit judiciary who dirtied their hands in this matter.

  3. smh says:

Wow, LNP bringing to light some traditional Amish behaviors that have been tucked away forever.

It’s well past time for the Amish to be recognized for their “quaint” practices that we don’t want tourists ($$$) to be aware of. As horrendous as the puppy mills are they are nothing in comparison to the way Amish women and children are treated in their community. Kudos to everyone trying to get the truth out into the mainstream.
