    —  Trying to get into the Christmas spirit this afternoon! LIP News will be back tomorrow.

*    I couldn’t have said it better (the comment to the left was posted on Lancaster Online under Murse’s column). Not only that, but on the same day LNP ran his ridiculous piece, the LNP editorial board had the unmitigated gall to state the following (click here):
A fundamental rule of public service is this: You’re not really serving the public if you’re using your office for personal gain.
How do you respond to that, Murse? Is LNP really serving the public or are you lining your own pockets? What hypocrisy and what a betrayal of the public’s trust!

12-16-19 UPDATE – Tom Murse’s column is now online (click here). Can a newspaper learn new tricks or can editors and reporters learn new tricks? And who and why are they trying to trick? So many questions, so little time!
Please check back later today.

*     The purpose of the Newsroom Employment Diversity Survey, launched in 1978, is to document employment trends in U.S. print and online publications and help newsrooms reflect the growing diversity of their audiences. The survey measures progress toward ASNE’s goal of having the percentage of minorities working in newsrooms nationwide equal to that of minorities in the nation’s population by 2025.

From the front page of today’s LNP print edition (not currently online).

LNP has named Tom Murse “executive editior” (he was previously the “managing editor”) and today we get a full line of platitudes and crap from this man including the below. Hey, Tom, you’re 30 to 40 years behind the times on that! How embarrassing!

If that 37-year old is still living at home with mom and dad then HE ought to be charged with harassment. Sounds to me like a bunch of men ganging up on a 65 year old lady. The only thing more ridiculous than Burkholder charging her is Manor Township putting it on their website. WTF? Probably wanted to show off that mighty fine police work there.

Law, schmaw. They do whatever they want WHENever they want. ESPECIALLY in Manor Township. And if a mother spanks her 5-year old – even in public – it’s LEGAL in PA. These cops are assholes.

Problem is, it’s a Domestic Violence related incident. Per State Law, the Police have to file charges. They have discretion not to, law states that they have to.

If this is not the most ridiculously stupid post on “crimewatch” I don’t know what is!! Doesn’t say who was charged but I expect LNP to run it word for word. $80,000 a year PER COP for this???!! How ’bout they mind their own business: HARASSMENT DECEMBER 9, 2019 On Monday, December 2, 2019 at 0058 hours, Corporal Mark Burkholder was called to the area of the 1600 block of Manor Boulevard for a domestic situation. Upon arrival, he learned that Rose Dow, 65, Lancaster, had slapped her 37 year old son because he had entered Dow’s and her husband’s bedroom when the son heard the couple fighting. The Officer was told that the son had knocked on the door prior to entering the bedroom but Dow did not hear the knocks. When her son entered the bedroom, she got mad at him and slapped him in the face. Based on the Officer’s investigation, he filed a non-traffic citation for harassment under the domestic violence law. The citation was filed at MDJ Keller’s office.
