According to the article, ““It does not appear to be a random act,” city police Sgt. Nate Nickel said. The suspects and victims were “somewhat known to each other.”
“The stabbing was not the result of a domestic incident, he added.”

The press release states, “the victim, a 19 year old Lancaster man, reported that he was shot after an unknown male attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
