    INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER NEEDED!

        This email in:

    Hi Becky,
I am a friend of Joy O’Shea’s and a member of her task force. I was wondering if you knew of any good investigative reporters who would be interested in blowing this case wide open. I wasn’t sure if you were an investigative reporter or not, forgive me if you are. The publicity you have given Joy’s story is remarkable. We thank you very deeply for that. I would appreciate any advice you may have. Thanks again.
I will have more on this and Assistant District Attorney Randall Miller this afternoon.

NEWS THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS?

And thanks to Artie See for posting this New York Times article on Lancaster Online (click here):

At the outset, the paper, owned by a local company, Steinman Enterprises, will charge only readers outside its immediate area and only for reading obituaries, with a little green Press+ logo next to each headline covered by the system. It will allow a reader to see a certain number of obituaries free before a box pops onto the screen demanding a flat fee to keep reading, but the paper has not yet decided what that number will be, or how much it will charge.

“We have news that no one else has, like these obituaries,” Mr. Schreiber said. “We would eventually take other sections of our online content into the system. I’m thinking local sports, perhaps.”

The system may generate only a few hundred thousand dollars a year in revenue, he said, but “that’s enough to pay for a few reporters.”

Good luck with that, Ernie!  They can go to the funeral home website and read the obit!

    Please check back this afternoon…

    1. Besides going to the funeral home website, many people are now setting up ‘in memoriam’ facebook pages and skipping the newspaper obits altogether.

why would you want to blow the case?

isn’t that the job of the appellate court?

    3. What do you think there is about the case that can be “blown wide open”? And what will happen if the reporter finds things that reflect poorly on Woomer? A real reporter isn’t your personal little character assassin you can sic on someone you dislike. Really, if someone has evidence (and not a bunch of spiteful jealous half cracked thoughts about swimming pools and some kind of “get away” spa room in the courthouse), why not put it out there on your own?

    4. Daisy Lee Myers, RN

      I SAY..

      wait for the sentencing phase…

      surprises happen!?

      “unbiased” reporting….

      seldom see itanony!

I’m sure you were directing this at me so I’ll answer.First of all jealous.what a joke you seem to be and talk about personal attacks .. ..You’ve been directing comments at me for a few days now.I’m not a character assassin.I have opinions just like you. It’s just mine, are just that….. mine!.I’m not a friend or family member of either side. And talking about a pool I’ve owned a pool for 21 yrs now so I know how much they cost and to maintain.I explained before the “gate away” was sarcasm, but apparently your not really reading my posts your just upset I have a different opinion then you.AHHHHHHH….If you want to keep questioning my opinions you’ll have to go w/ out answers directed at your dumb a$$ comments.I’m free to post whatever I want to on Becky’s site. And in the US the last time I ck ed your allowed to have different opinions.Just because I think Joy isn’t guilty and you think see is, well… will see how it plays out.

    7. abbylynn..you seem to be fighting a losing cause..the jury voted..GUILTY! The facts presented in the case…GUILTY! Move on to another story…..

    8. Actuatually, abbylynn, you say it’s sarcasm now only because you got called out on just how stupid, nasty and spiteful that really is. I’m sure you’re still going on in the same vein to anyone you think you can impress. If all of Joy’s advocates are like you, she should just get the multi-year subscription to “Prison Life”. She needs someone who can actually talk.

Additionally, you’re correct that we all can decide what we support. Difference is, when I see things I disagree with, I can actually give reasons. Not “POOL, PARADE, PARTY, FREE JOY” and endless variations. Type til your fingers fall off (please!), it’s not doing Joy one bit of good. I doubt you plan to actually *do* anything productive for either side, since that would actually involve the risk of someone telling you exactly how you sound to your face.

And I’ll post how I please too. Don’t like it? You’re free to go away any time.

      ta!

    9. Tillie - it isn’t over. And why aren’t you moving on to another story yourself?

    10. Tille are you ppl stupid or what. You or anyone else on here DOESN’t tell me what to do or think.Justice for JOY!!!

    11. Anonymous,You go back and try to read again, like I said you don’t read before you type.Oh I talk just fine. But arguring w/ damn fools on a pc isn’t exactly my cup of tea.Don’t the weavers have a website for all there fans to go?.Maybe you could help them out.I gave plenty of reasons, once again, you don’t read,or haven’t an answer.Talk about fingers typing off,are you writing a novel, look back at your book posts. And what is it that you do that’s productive?.Think it’s time you re read your own typing mabye it will make some sense to you.

    12. It’s a damn shame you weaver fans didn’t spend time @ there home and help poor tired mrs weaver out.Where was the band wagon then?.

    13. For people who “allegedly” do not know the Woomer’s, it seems you are all very willing to go to bat for her innocence without knowing all evidence allowed to the jurors, or really all the evidence that is out there, period…that seems silly to me. At least try to find out everything that was said to the jury before going out with cat claws and trying to scratch everyones eyes out. You can rehash the DA “running on crazy”, the detective Geesey who is “corrupt”. But really, if Geesey was corrupt you would think that he would plant the tubing with Morphine residue inside, with only Woomer’s fingerprints on them. Shockingly, he didn’t! What evidence do you have to convict him, besides this picture, that he has done anything wrong. Maybe you have people saying what they’ve heard about him or things he’s done to them. People can dream up anything, obviously, look at this site. As far as the Daisy coming and I guess becoming an “expert” on the medical field for your blog, I’d have to say you should probably get a doctor that is knowledgeable to attest to certain things. A pulse oximeter cannot save a person’s life. Most grown children have shown either they are or they are not at risk. Maybe every child should have a pulse oximeter on their toe though, just in case? Everyone has an agenda, so, what is your agenda, Daisy? It seems you do not really know this case. Are you believing what Becky writes without first checking your information that is available to you? I saw you post that you would wait for the appeal. Probably a good idea. I wish the whole civil case was available to the public. Of course Bayada would say no culpability. Do you think that they would say anything different? Why did Woomer’s story change over and over and over again? I heard she refused a lie detector test. Yes, she sounds VERY innocent! Investigative reporter sounds like a good idea but make sure when ALL the facts about Woomer come in you post them ALL, good AND bad. It seems you only post the things in support of the Woomer’s, why wouldn’t you they are giving you free publicity. I can only assume abbylynn is younger with the rants and raves or may have an anger issue. Anonymous and Tillie, its really a lost cause. They would probably go to their graves with their cat claws out screaming Woomer’s innocence, but you, Anonymous and Tillie, are the ones that are “stupid”….*sigh*….like I said, lost cause. Now, watch out because here come the cat claws, again! :) Enjoy the show!

    14. Abbylynn, I hate to break it to you but there is more than one anonymous poster on these boards. But thank you for noticing MY “novels” - not to be confused with the anonymous posting here. When you are yelling at someone make sure you know which person to yell at. I’ve read your comments and I’ve told you my thoughts on those issues.

So, this is Joy’s fansite? Here I thought it was supposed to be a NEWSWORTHY SITE not a fansite, my bad. Thanks for clarifying! Oh, and by the way - I type pretty fast! :)

    15. Thanks,
Anonymous,There really is more then one.Gee thanks for letting me know.YOU’LL BE SURE TO KNOW WHEN I’M YELLING CAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE THIS ON THE SCREEN!!!.This is a news worthy site called LANCASTER INDEPENDENT PRESS.Did you hear me??.try looking up INDEPENDENT.From every thing else you said here I don’t I could take your word your a fast typer.

    16. Wow, a fan site? Justice by popularity? You think that someone making a face book page for you means you must be innocent?

Here, just to feed your delusions: The Weaver Family Fanatics meet faithfully every week someplace with a pool where we can have a good old time playing monopoly, (unless the pool is frozen, of course, in which case we practice our curling). We talk about all kind of fun things, like how to avoid police attention by calling them every week. Mostly though, we laugh at how stupid some people on the internet are.

    17. I don’t think I could take your word your a
fast typer.Sorry….. I WAS TO BUSY YELLING,but it’s what I meant to say.

    18. Daisy Lee Myers, RN

      my concern is safety..

i’m not an “expert” just a nurse that uses the pulse ox frequently.

A pulse ox could help the parents as well as ANY nurse in “alerting” of low 02 sat.
i would have used it every night
      FOR SAFETY!

Since the child was also gettng sedation. I WOULD have used the pulse
      ox.

Until someone “explains away” the high morphine level(blood sample) of the child at LGH( morning of the code) then I can’t “exclude” the nurse.

like becky said..”follow the morphine trail..”

in tissues, organs, but not in stomach content(forensic didn’t get stomach content).

      G-DAY

    19. Antihistamine, not sedation.

    20. Daisy Lee Myers, RN

      correct,,,

article below mention sedation from the back surgery.

      LancasterOnline.com:News:

      Experts testify in nurse’s trial

      http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:vAHDy2rAtu4J:articles.lancasteronline.com/local/4/247411 brent weaver, sedation&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

    21. Daisy Lee Myers, RN

“Dr. Wayne K. Ross, the county’s forensic pathologist, said when the child was brought into the morgue the morning of his death, the boy looked “in excellent condition,” despite his extensive health problems.

Ross said he took blood and fluid samples from the child, but since he saw no signs of injury, he believed Brent died of natural causes and released the body for burial.

About a month later, when toxicology results returned indicating a morphine level “four times the upper therapeutic level,” Ross said, “I was obviously very, very, very much concerned.”

Ross said he called the coroner’s office and the police department, asking for an investigation and requesting the body be exhumed for a full autopsy.”

Dr. Edward Barbieri, an expert in pharmacology, testified that he analyzed samples taken from the child at the National Medical Services laboratory in Willow Grove.

In addition to the morphine, Barbieri said he also found two other sedatives in Brent’s organs, which he said would have been given to the child during BACK surgery in July 2002.”

As for the cough medicine Carol Weaver said she gave her son the night before he died, Barbieri said it was an antihistamine and “that does not metabolize into morphine.”

    22. He was not on sedation medication at the time of his death. Why use a pulse ox because of the sedation he was given two months PRIOR to his death? I guess I don’t understand where you are coming from when you say this:

“Since the child was also gettng sedation. I WOULD have used the pulse
      ox.”

    23. Daisy Lee Myers, RN

i would use the pulse ox for the following reasons as a nursing tool:

      1. tube feeding at 90cc/hour.

      would watch for fluid overload..

any aspiration of fluid in the lung would trigger the pulse ox.
as well as nursing assessment of the lungs, heart rate.

      2. cold syrup…. are the lungs clear?

      3. i thought i read that the child had sedation ordered.. i thought it was given; i was wrong!

SO, i suugested a pulse ox.

      thanks

    24. Daisy Lee Myers, RN

a pulse ox aids the nurse or parent in the care of any patient.

it has “saved” lives when i use it.

so, i’m an advocate of its use!

    25. Daisy Lee Myers, RN

      good-bye..

I will await the sentencing phase…

      g-night

    26. I agree that I would have used this machine, however, if assessments were done every hour the nurse would be able to note if there were any changes in the child. If there was anything abnormal in those assessments, the nurse could have assessed more often if concerns were warranted.

Generally, children with g-tubes have a fundoplication as well. This is done to those to “eliminate” that aspiration risk. Granted, the nissen does not necessarily do this 100%. To most, the thought is, there is a less likely chance for aspiration to occur.

If the lungs were not clear that would also mean the nurse should have performed more checks on the boy to listen for lung sounds since she decided not to use the machine that was in the closet.

I would agree that is does help to monitor a child when you are not physically in the room. However, the parents may have felt he was not at risk for complications since they did not experience anything before this point with their child at home.

I would also note that YOU saved the child by YOUR actions. I am sure, without that machine, you would have been assessing your patient more frequently and would have still “saved” lives. Thank you for clarifying.

    27. Daisy Lee Myers, RN

a lot of blame to go around..

      AGREE with you..

NOTHIN LIKE A nurse assessing their patients!

but, the pulse ox would had saved him.

very, very surprised the tube feeding rate at 90cc/hour.

      and another problem..

Very surprised that the child wasn’t wearing an allergy bracelet, since he is schelp to school daily AND it wasn’t on the kardex.

YOU MAY KNOW YOUR PATIENT, BECAUSE YOU LIVE WITH HIM. Strangers do not!

      sorry to say..

      WE learn from our “mistakes.”

      g-day

    28. All too true. I do not have an issue with the rate. I have seen many children with this rate. If their bodies tolerate this without much residual, why not. The reaction happened in the hospital. The nursing agency should have been aware of this and noted it in their records. Why it was not in the nursing records is beyond me. The hospital should send all information home with parents and to the nursing agency. Pulse ox, if wanted, was available so it could have been used if it were deemed necessary by nurse. You protect your license at all cost.
