    Defend Civil Rights!

The Lancaster County Human Relations Commission the body responsible for enforcing civil rights in Lancaster County - is being threatened by County Commissioners Scott Martin and Dennis Stuckey who seek to eliminate the commission and local protections that are part of the County’s Human Relations Act.
If these Commissioners are successful in their attack, then we would be the first county in Pennsylvania to actually eliminate civil rights legislation and enforcement. This attack could have serious repercussions on tourism and the local economy if word got out that Lancaster County moves backwards on civil rights.

  • * BLATANT RACISM AT LNP!

Posted on July 11th, 2010 Becky 3 comments

    * I am going to leave it at this today.  I am simply astonished that LNP has been blatantly discriminating and breaking the law for years and nothing has been done about it.  Nothing!

    THE ELEPHANT

     IN THE ROOM!

For starters, the commission is able to observe patterns of inquiries and complaints. If a few entities seem to have multiple incidents and questionable practices, that can be noted by the commission. There is an opportunity to approach the potential respondent with an offer for education, training and voluntary remedial action. If offenses, real or perceived, were not intentional, the organization can take steps to modify and amend its approach to doing business in order to stay in compliance with the law. This by no means favors potential respondents; rather, it affords the opportunity for employees and others to enjoy a discrimination-free environment while saving entities the costs of litigation and possible penalties.

The Rev. Louis A. Butcher Jr. in today’s Sunday News column, “A case for the commission.”

The biggest entity with multiple incidents and questionable practices in Lancaster County is the Lancaster Newspapers and everyone knows it.  So why hasn’t something been done?

    PROTECTING THEIR

    INTERESTS?

         This comment in last evening:

Talkback wasn’t taken down due to racists or racist comments. Think about it. How many “racists” were posting on the forum? A half-dozen, eight, ten? Why not just ban the bad seeds? I am a racist, I’ll admit it, and I posted some egregious racist comments. I posted on and off for nearly as long as Talkback existed under many pseudonyms. Not ONCE was I ever warned, let alone banned.

Talkback thrived on these controversial comments. It added shock value, and as odd as this may seem, increased readership and ad impressions due to the “what will they say next” factor. If Talkback and its administrators wanted to clear racists like myself from the forum, it would have been very easy. They didn’t want that to happen.

Talkback was shut down because of the continuous derogatory comments made about LNP. It was shut down because it was “free advertising” for alternative Lancaster County news sites and blogs. These alternative sites (like this one) do a better job of reporting on the corruption and cronyism of Lancaster County politics. Factor in the relationship between LNP and the corrupt heavy hitters of the County, and bingo they had a reason to take down Talkback in order to protect their interests.

Mr Crystle’s timing couldn’t have been more perfect, and a better excuse could not be had.

        Good day to you all.

I believe there’s some truth in this.  From a commenter several weeks ago – LNP is the establishment in Lancaster County – and they control – yes, control – almost everything that happens.  And I think something suddenly scared the hell out of the higher ups.  What could that have been?  Please check back later today…

    RETURN HER BELONGINGS!

    By Jodie Wolff

On April 21st I contacted Lancaster County Prison Warden Vincent Guarini in regards to Joy O’Shea Woomer’s belongings. Mr. Guarini returned my phone call the next day.  He told me they would send a letter to Joy’s contact person, most likely her mother, telling her when she can go to pick up Joy’s belongings. I asked why the paperwork for her belongings wasn’t done when she was transferred to Muncy. He assured me the letter would go out soon. I explained to Mr. Guarini how important it is for her family to have her belongings because they want to make copies of her artwork for the Fireside Tavern silent auction that will be held on June 6 from 1 to 4 pm.

I also asked the Warden why Joy was transferred to Muncy by herself and not as a group in a bus as they usually do. He explained that there are only a few women that from time to time get sent to State penitentiaries. In Joy’s case she was the only one. Men usually go in groups on the buses. I thought maybe it had something to do with the interview Joy wanted to do before she was sent to Muncy. He told me that was not the case.

The Warden was pleasant and answered all of my questions. I’m just hoping he was truthful and follows up with getting Joy’s belongings to her mother, or I’ll be calling him again very soon!

[Editor’s note:  Joy O’Shea Woomer was transferred from the Lancaster County Prison to Muncy State Prison very hurriedly after her Evidentiary Hearing.  Her family was not informed and she was taken with only the clothes on her back.  The JusticeforJoy site is here.]

    WHO CONTROLS IT?

Bob Magel, Lancaster Newspapers marketing director, said TalkBack is, by design, controlled largely by community members, not the newspaper.

“The editors don’t control it, and to some extent Lancaster Newspapers does not directly control it,” he said. “It’s a platform for people in the county to speak.

“It’s really no different than setting up a soapbox for people on the street to make comments.”

  • END RACISM AT LNP NOW!

    A CALL TO ACTION

But I wonder how damaging Lancaster Newspapers’ (LNP) tolerance of the racism is, and why this Steinman business continues to allow these posts. Kids read these forums. Tourists too. And people considering moving to Lancaster read them as well–this is harmful to our community and to the psyche of many, many of our residents.

….What I don’t understand is how the Steinmans’ Lancaster Newspapers allow this bigotry to continue to flow through this community discussion board. It poisons the atmosphere in Lancaster. It shows to outsiders reading the posts a certain ugly side of the area, which I don’t believe is as pervasive as it would seem given the frequency of bigoted posts.

I plan to meet with the Editors about this, and then the Steinmans. And if that produces no results, then I’ll work on gathering friends around the community to develop a plan for dealing with it. Maybe LNP thinks that the controversial, bigoted posts creates more views and thus more ad revenue for them.  I really don’t know. I hope not.

From Charlie Crystle’s blogspot (click here).

To answer a few of your questions:  it is extremely damaging and no, it does not increase the views and thus ad revenue.  It lowers it.  If you were black or Hispanic, would you read their forum?

I respect Charlie so much for his Letter to the Editor (see “THANK YOU, CHARLIE!” below).  I don’t personally know Charlie.  We shared one brief phone call over the camera issue and exchanged several emails several months ago.  And I can’t believe it took a School District of Lancaster Board Member to shock people into some sense.  Every other Board Member, the Mayor, the D.A., the Police Chief, community organizations, churches, and the Y’s should join him and echo his outrage.

Charlie and I would probably disagree on the answer to his one question:  Why does LNP allow this?  I say they do it on purpose.  Look at their hiring.  They have blatantly discriminated for years.  They have only put minorities and their pictures in the paper when they are charged with a crime.  Their news is slanted and like their newsrooms, racist.  It has gone on for years.

It is well past the time that they should have been called on the carpet, fined, publicly exposed and forced – yes, they have to be forced – to abide by the law of the land and human decency.  This is a newspaper!  It is simply unbelievable.

[Editor’s note:  There is a very important Letter to the Editor in today’s Sunday News by Charlie Crystle, a Board Member of the School District of Lancaster.  He posted his full, unedited letter on the Talkback forum and I am rerunning it below.  Racism in Lancaster County begins with the Lancaster Newspapers.]

     TOLERANCE OF RACISM

Every day, anonymous people post dozens of harmful, racist and bigoted statements on Lancaster Online. It’s pure bigotry–not opinion, not fact. Children read these posts. So do tourists and people considering a move to Lancaster.
Does it hurt us? Of course it does. It’s demeaning and demoralizing, and the Lancaster community should not stand for it. We have great challenges in this city, and our acceptance of bigotry erodes our ability to meet them.
Lancaster Newspapers’ continued tolerance of this racism reflects poorly on it and the Lancaster community. While you’ve posted rules and policies for the site, you don’t enforce them, so the online forums run without governance. This should be a forum for debate and discussion, not for fostering hatred, bigotry, and racism.
I understand you have certain limitations and don’t approve of these posts, but you could certainly actively ask the community to keep it clean and to report offenders, or you could track the bigotry through automated software and ban the posters.
Further, you could either end the anonymity, or force anonymous posters to give verifiable personal information. This will sap some of the bigots of the courage only found when they are completely unaccountable to the community for their actions.
The editors and owners of Lancaster Newspapers should proactively police the forums, and ban people pushing their racist filth on Talkback. Some forms of speech are not protected; hate speech and posts to a privately owned forum are not among them. This hateful, harmful trend undermines the civility, hopes and dreams of this community, and it’s time Lancaster City AND County stand up to it forcefully and swiftly.
I hope you’ll take some steps to address this critical issue, and partner with the community to end the tolerance of racist and bigoted behavior.

     ~ And LNP ~

    CORRUPTION

I received this email yesterday (the underlining for emphasis is theirs):

Saw your post about the Intell looking for a new reporter. I read the part of the ad you posted, i.e.

The successful candidate will, of course, be accurate and thorough, but we also stress compelling storytelling and solid writing. Our reporters and editors work closely together to craft stories that our readers actually want to read. We have an in-house training program, including on-staff and outside writing coaches, to help our reporters reach their full potential.”

Don’t those words almost read like, “seasoned, OLDER, reporters need not apply…”

     My reply was this:

Excellent point!  I must be getting old to have missed that!

It is, of course, true.  As I stated when Marv Adams was named editor of the Sunday News, they have to promote from within.  These newspapers have to.  They could not bring in an outside editor because no one would be willing to compromise - actually throw out - every journalistic ethic they have to work at one of these papers.  So we get an absolutely untalented, downright stupid hack whose sole job seems to be to support the convention center and attack the commissioners.

The same applies to their reporters.  They could not hire a seasoned reporter.  They would not be willing to tell the lies and slant stories and throw all of their journalistic ethics out the window the way the Lancaster Newspaper reporters do.

No, these papers have to hire young reporters who don’t know any better.  And as the Intell’s reputation slides lower and lower after the state grand jury report, I can’t imagine anyone, even young, who is talented and eager and believes the press is the backbone of freedom in this country, working there.

And what happens when you have a monopoly press situation like this?  Corruption.  It’s everywhere in Lancaster County.

The convention center.  The newspaper’s 50% ownership in this fiasco breaks every code of newspaper ethics in this country.  And these papers and their editors and reporters just continue to spin out lie after lie after lie.

Lancaster County District Attorney Donald Totaro.  He’s had two investigative grand juries in four years.  Grand juries are highly unusual and expensive.  Have the newspapers ever questioned why they were needed and the results we got for our money?

The second grand jury spent six months examining whether a man committed a crime by lying on his resume.  Is that a joke?  Then they spent six months on a fishing expedition into the commissioners.  The grand jury was supposed to investigate serious crime and unsolved murders.  Why isn’t Totaro being investigated?

On top of that, Totaro had his buddy, State Attorney General Tom Corbett, investigate Lancaster County Coroner Kirchner for months.  Corbett gave five Intell reporters immunity.  Why isn’t that being investigated?  How much did that “investigation” cost the citizens of Pennsylvania?

And let me make this clear – the allegation against the Coroner is that he allegedly gave his password to one reporter in 2004.

And then New Era editor Ernie Schreiber has a reporter do a classic hatchet job on the coroner - about guinea pigs.  He runs it as a front page, top-of-the fold story.

These newspapers are destroying Lancaster.  Not only don’t they report the corruption, they are an integral party in the corruption itself.

       It is, quite literally, criminal.

    MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE!

And, Rivera continued, Kevin Major didn’t speak with police until 2009, when “you cooperated because you were charged with a federal crime.”

        “Right,” the witness said.

From today’s article by Janet Kelley, “Four face trial for 2004 slaying of woman,” (click here).

This is an unbelievable miscarriage of justice!  Where’s the physical evidence?  Where is it?  Let me remind you that I have a five-year-old article on the murder of Heather Marie Nunn on the original LIP News site (click here).

From the Intell article quoted on October 26, 2004, there is this:

“A team of 25 investigators spent Sunday night and Monday trying to identify the man who shot Nunn at least two times in the chest before fleeing her home at 224 Pearl Street.”

“The slaying suspect apparently dropped a pair of gloves and vomited in an alley near the Pearl Street home after the shooting,” police said.

So, 25 investigators never mention it may have been more than one man?  Twenty-five investigators never mention that it may have been a robbery gone wrong?

Who owned the gloves?  Whose DNA was in the vomit?

Five years later they arrest and charge four men based on the “word” of a man who was just charged with a federal crime?  Where’s the physical evidence?

This is corruption.  This is a disgrace.  Lancaster Detective Nate Nickel should be fired and this whole case should be investigated by an outside agency.

Please check back later today for more on ADA Randall Miller.

This comment in under “WHAT A WATCHDOG, ROBERT!” below:

“The Lancaster Newspapers does not like to be confrontational, especially when dealing with establishment figures.”

That’s because the Lancaster Newspapers ARE the establishment and always have been.  Its founder’s wife is from an old Virginny family, the same state that is celebrating the Confederacy.  And look at all the pro-confederacy comments on talkback.  They’d fit right in with her slave owning grandparents.

You hit the nail on the head.  They ARE the establishment.  And look at the racial makeup of their editorial staffs.  It is unconscionable and illegal.

This comment in several days ago from my friend Hill about a huge house fire in Denver:

Hey Becky… wow we really had a huge fire here this morning… About 2 miles away from my house… A Huge Brick million dollar house went up in smoke about 9:30 am… was about 27 fire trucks went past our house…. They even called out farmville…opps farmersville… fire companies… Went past tonight about 7 and it’s demolished …I think the owners live in Florida.. was a vacation house from what I’m hearing… I could hear the explosions from it here too…. Lots of news up here on Hill’s Hill today…. Thank God no one got hurt that’s the main thing but it was sure exciting…

    HE JUST NEEDED A JOB!

    geesey4

Detective Joseph P. Geesey after the verdict in Joy O’Shea

     Woomer’s trial.

Joseph P. Geesey was 22 and unemployed, with a wife and family to support, when he first walked into the Lancaster city police station looking for work.

There was no message from God, I just needed a job, he said. Plain and simple.”

The police hired him, trained him and put him in uniform.

But police work soon became more than just a job to Geesey.

It turned into a career in law enforcement and criminal investigation that he said still fascinates, excites and challenges him today - 50 years after he was sworn in on July 1, 1958.

The opening paragraphs from Janet Kelley’s July 5, 2008 New Era article, “Case Closed?  Not for this Guy,” available in the newspaper archives.

The day the New Era printed this story - I published and it was true – that I received an email from my webhost that morning reminding me that my domain name, LancasterLynching.com, was due to expire.  I renewed it and the site remains up.

I chuckle every time I read this.  I wonder what would have happened if a black man had walked into the police department looking for work in 1958?  I know what happened to a black man, Robert L. Henderson, Jr., in 1981 after he took Detective Geesey into Federal Court for violation of his civil rights.  I know Detective Geesey tried to have him killed in a most horrific way.

I know the Lancaster Detectives never solved his attempted murder nor another one several months later committed by the same three men.

I know that Detective Geesey has been the lead detective on two infamous, long ago unsolved murders of two young women, Lindy Sue Biechler and Christy Mirack.

Someone recently sent a comment to this site saying I had “cooked-up” the story of the Lancaster Lynching and Detective Geesey.  Not quite.  As a 27-year-old journalist I stumbled onto this story and took a photograph.  A photograph that has haunted me ever since.

I tried everything I knew for almost two years to get someone to act on the story, until fear and friends made me put it away.  I put it in a box.  I stopped writing.

I found the box – and opened it – when I went looking for old letters from a boyfriend relating to the incest story.

In September of 2001, I published a special eight page paper edition of the Lancaster Independent Press entirely about the Lancaster Lynching story.  I distributed it in Lancaster two days before 9/11.  It was the second story to go on this site, after the incest story, in the fall of 2004.  I gave the story its own website in September of 2007.  This story is far from over.

Whenever I see Detective Geesey’s name involved with a case, I sense trouble, deception and lies.  And so it is with the prosecution of Joy O’Shea Woomer six years after Brent Weaver’s death.

He told me in person outside the courtroom as the closing arguments were about to begin, “They want me in there.”  And so 74 year-old Detective Joseph Geesey, looking like a kindly grandfather, sat by the prosecution’s table.

    Please check back tomorrow…

  • GEESEY - FROM LANCASTERLYNCHING.COM

Posted on January 18th, 2010 Becky 3 comments

My name is Becky Holzinger.  Twenty years ago I was the former editor of this paper, living in Philadelphia and working as a freelance reporter for the Philadelphia Tribune, America’s oldest Black newspaper.  Twenty years ago they printed a headline that changed my life.  It read, “Man critical after Lancaster lynching try.”  I jumped on a train to Lancaster.  Nothing would ever be the same.

How do you tell an 81-year-old man who has led a privileged life that the Detectives working his case know the three men who tried to kill him?  And refuse to arrest them?

They couldn’t arrest them.  Because Detective Joseph P. Geesey hired them five months earlier to murder Robert Leslie Henderson, Jr.

What I didn’t know was why?  Why wouldn’t the police arrest them?  Why would they say there was no resemblance between my photograph and the artist’s sketches and descriptions?

Alice Johnson, Henderson’s grandmother, told me.  I was sitting on her porch one day talking, as we did, and she very casually told me that her grandson had taken two Lancaster detectives into Federal Court for violation of his civil rights.  “What,” I said?  “What?”

So, I looked it up.  And yes, he had.  And I went to City Hall in Philadelphia and looked up the case.  It still brings tears to my eyes.

A friend called after Rhoads was attacked.  “You better see these artist sketches,” he said.

Now the story would break.  The three men would be arrested.  This was a former Armstrong executive.  It was in the paper for days.

I went to see Alice Johnson.  I was elated.  “They will have to arrest them now,” I told her.  “They attacked an 81 year-old, white, former Armstrong executive.  They will have to arrest them now.”

        I am sorry, Ms. Johnson.

    ANOTHER

    UNSOLVED CASE

    “Abducted Man’s Car Returned Here”

[Editor’s Note:  This is the complete article from the Lancaster New Era on September 21, 1981.  The story, with no byline, features a large photo of Rhoads’ car with the passenger-side door open and Detective Geesey standing by the door holding a bag of evidence.  The photo is credited to New Era photographer Richard Hertzler.]

A city police detective returned Daniel Rhoad’s car to Lancaster from Virginia on Saturday and today will begin sorting through two bags of evidence found inside the car.

After Rhoads’ stolen car was found in rural central Virginia last Tuesday, Lancaster Detective Lt. Joseph P. Geesey flew to Richmond, Va. to recover the car and work with Virginia State Police in gathering evidence that they hope will lead them to the identity of Rhoads’ three abductors.

In the photo above, Geesey is removing the bags of evidence from the car.

Geesey said through the cooperation of Virginia authorities, they were able to trace the route of the car from Pennsylvania to Virginia.

Inside the car, police said numerous empty beer cans and whiskey bottles were found, along with several fingerprints.

The fingerprints and other evidence were returned to Lancaster by Geesey, and the detective will now attempt to match the fingerprints with possible area suspects.

Because Rhoads’ abductors crossed state lines, the information, including copies of the fingerprints, also will be sent to the FBI to be placed for comparison on a central suspects file.

The car was found in fair condition 35 miles west of Richmond with a flat tire, police said.  After minor repairs, Geesey was able to drive it back to Lancaster, where it will be kept at the police station as evidence.

Rhoads, a retired Armstrong executive, was abducted in the fifth floor of the Prince Street parking garage on Sept. 11 when three men forced their way into his car.

The men beat, stabbed and robbed Rhoads before throwing him over a 50-foot embankment.  Rhoads was discovered along a roadway in West Hempfield Township by a passing motorist.

Rhoads, of 645 Oakwood Lane, is listed in good condition at St. Joseph Hospital, but is expected to be kept in the hospital for a least another week, according to his physician.

Coming tomorrow - articles by New Era reporters Janet Kelley and Tim Mckeel on the Rhoads assault.  Later, why did the three men drive to Goochland, Virginia?  And why didn’t the Lancaster Police ever tell us the very obvious answer?

That’s one of the first lessons you learn, Gil!  Where is this woman’s name?    How can you call yourself a reporter?  And why have the police spent eight months and God only knows how much of the public’s money to have no answers?  Why didn’t you ask them that, Gil?

Why is this pathetic rehash on the front page?  Why don’t you report on the “mysterious” death of Lydia Colon-Torres, Gil?  That’s a front page story.  There is no cause of death by the coroner three months after his autopsy?  What is going on with this investigation?  Can you imagine her children, family and friends going through the holidays with no answers?  This is an outrage and tomorrow I will follow-up with the coroner, the Lancaster Police and the District Attorney’s office.

    A CIVIL SOCIETY?

NewsLanc.com has an interesting Watchdog piece about Editor Marv Adams’ incredibly stupid column this week, “Ripped from police logs,” (click here for the column and here for NewsLanc.com):

In his column, Editor Marv Adams reports “An Allentown woman, 45, was charged with open lewdness after Manheim Township police were told that she got out of her vehicle and urinated in the open at Route 501 and York Road. On a Friday. At 11:04 a.m.”

WATCHDOG:  In a more civilized setting, people would just look the other way.  Some people have weak bladders and the urge comes suddenly.  A man can keep a cup in his car.  What is a woman to do?

Columnists can get desperate to find things to write about during the holiday season.  May we suggest tolerance?

Interesting concept.  And Marv has been desperate for three years.  He either writes about his emails or the police log.  It’s sad to see an editor this bad.  Seriously.  And instead of insulting his readers as usual (other than by his column, of course) he ends with this:

And to all, a happy New Year. Thanks for reading.

Which is a sure sign no one is reading!

    GET A LIFE, CHANCE!

litlmo ever post on Lipnews along with lilmiss and Hyprocrisy Hunt? Just checking member profile.

This was posted by “Chance” on the Lancaster Online Talkback forum under the article, “Body of missing Maryland girl found in woods.”

Chance, you have crossed the line!  Your repeated rants about me have been noted – but to go under a serious topic and accuse posters of also posting on my site is beyond absurd and goes to childish and ridiculous.

I don’t know any of the posters you just named and I would have no way of knowing if any did post on my site.   This is a free country the last time I checked – and they are free to read and post where they like.

Why don’t you get a life, Chance, and touch base with reality?

    DIRTY FAMILY LAUNDRY?

In case you haven’t noticed, there’s been a bit of an exchange with some Trashbackers on this site.  The following was posted by a retired policeman – yes, I said policeman:

She, becky, started in on me several years ago. We went at it pretty good for awhile. Then I got tired of her bull and let her have it. She sends me an e-mail saying not to e-mail her again. She thinks she is the greatest investigator since Sherlock. She wouldn’t know an investigation if it slapped her in the face. She loves to bad mouth cops and hates Joe Geesey with a passion. You have to wonder about someone that airs her dirty family laundry on a web site for everyone to read about. She is a total dingdong.

I will address all aspects of his post later this week including Detective Joe Geesey who will soon be featured in an upcoming trial - but for today - apparently if the police receive a phone call from a teen-aged girl saying her father is molesting her, the police should ignore it and write it down/off as “dirty family laundry.”  Unbelievable!

    TIME TO RULE!

There’s been no decision by Judge James Cullen about the appeal in Michael Roseboro’s murder conviction.  Will his decision come before the New Year?  It’s time for a ruling, Judge!

    COVER-UPS

The town’s police chief and two officers were charged by federal prosecutors with orchestrating a cover-up in the beating death of Ramirez, an illegal immigrant.

…But with the allegations in this week’s indictments and revelations, surrounding the civil lawsuit, this has become a case about hate crimes and a whole lot more — a small town police department run amok.

From this morning’s New Era editorial, “Town in glare of national spotlight.”

This was Lancaster for many years – possibly still is - please see the Lancaster Lynching story – click here.  I think we need the Feds to come in and examine the “mysterious” death of Lydia Colon-Torres and what is being done about it.

And Stephen Diablo, our Klan member, and the man claiming to be bi-racial (sorry, I missed that in his Talkback posts) with a black wife pays this site a visit and extends an invitation (click here)!  Lititz, huh?  Who would’ve guessed?

    Please check back later today…

    THE SYMPATHY PLAY?

The Tiger Woods brand is broken, maybe not irrevocably, but broken still. The only repair we see is for Tiger Woods the person to step out from behind the brand and let the world see a man willing to devote the same drive and determination to fixing his marriage that he brought to building his game and his career.

From this morning’s Intell Editorial, “The Tiger brand.”

Well, the Intell steps into the Tiger Wood’s mess!  I don’t think Tiger can “fix” his marriage.  What say you, ladies?  I don’t think there’s any explaining or apologizing in the world that can make this go away.  Sadly, Tiger is toast on many levels.

        This email in:

Hi there–just catching up on your site. Do you know the person posting as Stephen Diablo? Is he really Klan? It’s funny–people are disarmed by his claim that he’s black.

Yes, I believe he’s Klan.  He’s claiming his wife is black.  It’s a favorite forum tactic and absolutely absurd with the hate filled posts he’s making.

It reminds me of the “men’s rights” nutjob from several years ago.  She claimed to have been so badly beaten by her husband in her third trimester of pregnancy that the baby died.  And yet she devoted her life and spent her entire days posting basically that domestic violence is a sham and that the statistics are wrong and women are just as violent as men.

It’s the old turn-about and sympathy play and yes, it’s meant to disarm.  I don’t know if you remember the banned posters “whirlwind” and “retebp”?  They came on Talkback at the time the Sunday News did an article on Klan literature being distributed in Mountville several years ago.  I stated they were Klan and it was a Talkback poster who googled their names and did indeed find them on a Klan forum under the same names bragging about the “progress” they were making in Lancaster.

I haven’t googled this Diablo person – but I can tell you that his wife is not black and he is not local – and I’d put the odds at 99 to one that he is Klan.  There are two other Klan members currently on the forum as well.

There will be more later today and a story I have been running on this site (see “KNOW WHEN TO FOLD ‘EM” below) takes a very interesting twist…ain’t life strange!

    AS I TYPE…

You may not like racism, you can deny it, you can pretend as though you aren’t a racist or that the current racial situation doesn’t bother you, you can sit in your home behind your computer and type that you have a black friend all you want or that you aren’t scared of walking through a predominantly black neighborhood, you can pretend as though all whites and blacks are equal, you can say that blacks are lacking in opportunity, benefits and are discriminated against and you can sit on your high horse and pretend that black culture isn’t taking over all you want……. but at the end of the day your kid listens to black music and wears his pants around his azz, your white daughter might sleep with a black man, your kid talks like 2-Pac, your kids are beginning to idolize gansta mentality, your kid might join the black founded crips or bloods, and you might be passed over for employment because you are white.

Posted by a Klan member who signed up on the Lancaster Online Talkback forum yesterday to post hate under, “Kwanzaa creator at MU today,” (click here).

After being called out, several posts later this same person types this:

As I type my wife, who is black is looking over my shoulder. I was raised by my white mother, my black father abandoned me when I was a child. My black grandparents just left yesterday for New York after spending the Thanksgiving holidays with my wife and daughter. I am not racist.

If anyone believes this for one second, go and have your head examined!  Seriously!  This is a classic forum tactic used by numerous individuals and groups.

Which brings me to my afternoon topic – forums!  This was posted about (gasp!) me:

Beach, pretty much what she is looking for. BigM fell for it too. You guys know better.  Becky does not belong on this forum.  Stop reading her forum.  Bunch of bull uh crap.

Okay, folks.  You have your marching orders.  Someone just made her God and the owner of the forum!  LOL!  You’ve got to love it!  (Hey, Deb, I hope you aren’t reading this!)

  • *NAACP = THE KLAN WITH A TAN?

Posted on December 7th, 2009 Becky 2 comments

    * BREAKING NEWS*** The Klansman has just posted that he (gasp!) is married to a black woman.  Oh, this is good stuff!  And, I, of course, am another of Tiger’s mistresses!

    GOOD FOR YOU, CHARLIE!

The Ku Klux Klan – yes, the Klan, has come running again today to the Lancaster Online Talkback forum to post under today’s story, “Kwanzaa creator at MU today,” (click here).  Today I am simply reprinting a post by Lancaster businessman Charlie Crystle who posts under his real name and is standing up to them.

Of course, the Klan won’t care about what he says.  Almost nothing you can say can put a dent into their hatred.  They live for their hatred.  But it is unbelievable that in America in the year 2009, with a black president in office, this kind of stupidity and hatred is alive and well on a newspaper public forum:

White history month is every month except February–history has been taught and framed from a euro-centric worldview. TV has been dominated by white culture–there isn’t a need for white TV–it’s not a niche market, it’s the mainstream market. There are plenty of business opportunities for niche markets like black entertainment.
Minorities were structurally excluded from freedom in the US from the start, and some of the exclusion still exists. Fortunately folks like our own Thaddeus Stevens worked to change that. In Lancaster, blacks were excluded from Rocky Springs Pool until the mid 60’s (civil rights act?), and the owners decided to close the pool rather than allow blacks in (there are other local examples but that’s notable).
The KKK was specifically formed to enforce white supremacy through terrorist threats, murder, brutality, and intimidation. Yet you equate the NAACP with the KKK. NAACP isn’t exclusive to black Americans. Please tell me what part of white society has been so oppressed that it needs special attention for advancement?

    MY THANKSGIVING WISH

Judge James P. Cullen has not ruled regarding the appeal request in Michael Roseboro’s murder conviction.  The woman who answers the phone in his chambers said this afternoon it won’t happen before Thanksgiving as Cullen is busy tomorrow.

        In other news:

A security video camera is mounted on a utility pole at the Pershing Avenue and Dauphin Street side of the three-way intersection. At least two neighbors pointed that out.
“Go check that camera,” one resident said, “That camera caught everything.”

From this week’s Sunday News, “Multiple shots kill city man,” (click here).

Once again, where is the camera footage?  The mayor and the police chief keep saying these cameras are such a great crime fighting tool!  Then where’s the footage and where’s the arrest?  If the camera caught it - and it should have - then why can’t they identify the perpetrator and if they need help doing so - release his image to the public, for crying out loud!  Let’s get the killer off the streets!  What is going on in this town?

In recent weeks, the center has hosted events as varied as a motorcycle show, a Christmas art and crafts festival and dinner galas for such groups as Ephrata Community Hospital and the Urban League of Lancaster County.

A three-day quilting convention and show coming in March promises to be the largest event yet for the center. That event is expected to draw 17,000 people.

From last week’s article, “Convention Center $1 million in red,” (click here).

Let me get this straight, we built a $175 million dollar convention center/hotel, $140 million of that from public money, so the Ephrata Community Hospital and the Urban League could hold dinner galas there?  That’s just too crazy and sad to even comment on.

And they keep playing up the quilting convention!  Wow!  That is not until March, folks.  March.  There are three months in the meantime!

This white elephant/disaster is brought to you by the Lancaster Newspapers as are the cameras to keep those convention goers safe – oops! – I mean feeling safe.  Way to go, LNP!  I didn’t know newspapers were supposed to royally screw the buying public that keeps them in business.   Only in Lancaster County!

And so this, then, is my Thanksgiving wish: that we might stop seeing our fellow citizens as undeserving.  Black, Hispanic or white, regardless of our circumstances — we are Americans.

        First, foremost, and always.

Sunday News Associate Editor Gil Smart in his column this week, “Freedom from want,” (click here).

Oh, that is so inspirational!  Is Smart a great guy or what?  This man works for a newspaper that blatantly discriminates in its hiring and has for years!  He should be ashamed to even type these words.  How is that diversity in the newsroom coming, Smart?

Yes, the Lancaster Newspapers have done a lot to improve Lancaster – NOT!  And so this, then, is my Thanksgiving wish:  close down the racist, ethics breaking Lancaster Newspapers and get a legitimate news organization in this county.  First, foremost, and always!

LIP News will publish briefly tomorrow and then go on Thanksgiving break!

    RETURN OF THE KLAN!

pour a bottle of Goya Malta on the ground for the puerto ricans that ain’t around.

Posted on the Lancaster Online Talkback forum under today’s article, “Lone gunman sought in fatal city shooting,” (click here).

Do you know what you do with a post like this, Lancaster Online moderators?  You delete it!  Let me repeat that: You immediately delete it and warn the poster!

This is disgusting and disgraceful!  And when you do not delete it and another poster comes on and states the victim was not Puerto Rican and the original poster answers with this:

        who cares.
send his body to the border and start building a wall.

You delete it and ban the poster.  How can someone be this sick?      I am under the weather today and this just makes me totally ill.

    Please check back tomorrow…
