In remarks immediately before the vote, Councilwoman Danene Sorace called the deal a “fair gamble” for the city.
From the October 12, 2016 LNP article, “Lancaster City Council approves $30M Marriott hotel expansion,” (click here).
Less than three months later, Sorace announced she was running as a candidate for mayor. The Marriott, of course, is owned by LNP and they were the recipient of Sorace’s “fair gamble” and millions of dollars of public money for their for-profit, off the tax-rolls hotel. And since then, LNP has only ever reported or editorialized about her in the most glowing of terms.
LNP has not once reported since the plans for Lancaster Square were publicly announced that her husband’s company where he is a vice-president (and they were the largest contributors to her campaign), Benchmark Construction, was given the over $20 million dollar contract to build the new parking garage and library without the city going through a competitive bid process.
LNP has not once pointed out this blatant and direct conflict of interest that the public has a right and need to know and in the process they are breaking every code of journalism ethics in this country. LNP is supposed to be the local media “watchdog” that protects you from this kind of corruption – not be an integral player in it!
Click here for “UNBELIEVABLE CORRUPTION” on this site and there will be more, including MAW, tomorrow.

Mayor Danene Sorace said, “It is disheartening when a public servant betrays public trust.
From the LNP article pictured above (click here) and Eron Lloyd (right).

That has to be one of the most hypocritical, ironic and absurd things Mayor Sorace has said to date.
Please check back later today.

MAW “Hired him 2 yrs after he pleaded guilty to publi corruption”. Woudnt that NORMALLY disqualify a candidate? Sounds like when Manor Township hired Todd Graeff as police chief. I’ll never forget Supervisor John May – after 32 candidates applied for the job – “We knew about it (corruption, perjury convictions by PA Ethics Board). Its not like he tried to pull one over on us”. Of course not. Those were EXACTLY the qualifications you were looking for, shyster!

  2. Layne Kisster says:

Any updates on Amish child molester David Smucker? Yesterday was his court date to have the charges against him read. Naturally no coverage by LNP and area media.

    • Becky says:

Yes, yesterday was his formal arraignment in Common Pleas Court and he waived it which is common. I did hear from a woman following his case and she wrote this:

I was told by several people close to the victims and was confirmed by Children and Youth, that this case is receiving national and international attention. A reporter from California called me to discus my knowledge of the case. This case is being watched my multiple news agency’s that are writing bigger story’s about abuse in plain community’s. I believe LNP, is trying to push this one under the door mat. ( other local newsagency’s reported earlier and in more detail than LNP)

They are handing out a newslanc at market today. Looks to be the last one 🙁 .

  4. Mike emrick says:

    Appreciate you connecting these dots.
It makes you think, what else are they hiding that we do not even know about? This is kind of blatant in-your-face corruption. Nonetheless, given the fact that no one else does anything about this, makes you wonder. The mayor is a Democrat, with the socialist chief of staff, participating in fascism by no bid contracts from campaign contributing spouses. And corruption in the Republican DAs office. Disgusting.

  5. Anonymous says:

Well. True. LNP hasn’t made any mention of any of that. But. You have to admit their coverage of area proms is second to none.

  6. Layne Kisster says:

Remind us all again Mayor what it is your husband does for a living?

I liked this very strong and sure statement.

“I don’t know Mr. Lloyd, and to the best of my knowledge, he was not directly involved in any work with the City of Lancaster.”

Mr. Lloyd most assuredly is involved in work associated with lancaster. This can be easily verified through his depositions related to the Lehigh county case and the FCC complaint. Are they lying or are they stupid?

  8. huh? says:

This is rich as my mom used to say. I love watching the powers that be think they are being proactive.

Lancastrians have NEVER been fully informed about just who brought MAW to the table, who championed their cause and if there was ever a competitive bid.

Lancastrians have been stonewalled when seeking those answers.

Mayor Gray has virtually disappeared from public life. A few heads rolled at city hall and city government but no explanation why.

And now, the city has been throwing thousands of dollars at attorneys to prop this sham of a business up.

This city, the PSP, the DA’s office, the police department and on and on is a fermenting cesspool.

So quick! Find an abused animal or a fake Holocaust survivor to distract the masses.

I will never forget or forgive the LNP for featuring and gushing over Lancaster’s own survivor. Who sported a tattoo he had inked on himself ON THE WRONG PART OF HIS ARM. Any astute reporter would have questioned that right away. And I’ll never forget all the people who posted under the story who said that his message was more important than his lies.

So I imagine that if the powers that be are called on the carpet, they’ll wrap all their corruption in a lost dog and cat story that belonged to a survivor of 911.

    LOL !
