Yes, it’s all-out war between Stedman and the county and Stedman and LNP (click here for the latest LNP story with the above headline in print). This is remarkable and deeply disturbing.

From the story there is this (Stedman’s filing is not yet on the Prothonotary’s site):
Stedman, in his filing Friday, says the commissioners’ explanation is faulty because case law has established that a district attorney has complete control of seized assets and a county may not consider those assets for budgeting purposes.
You are paid by and work for the public, Stedman. Everyone has a right to know what happened to seized assets.
And LNP managing editor Tom Murse is waiting for Stedman to “correct the record:”
“Please let me know as soon as possible how you and your office intend to correct the record,” Murse added.
Stedman has been making a fool of himself and the District Attorney’s office non-stop for several weeks now. When will the Republicans remove him as a candidate for judge?

Mmmm….seems like a few are coming on here to figure out whos who lol. Big mad because we dont have to put our real names lol. The real purpose for them wanting your names is so they can make your life miserable in this little city. When you expose people in this city they search your past dockets for dirt to make you look crazy lol. They refuse to give you any help from city and put DA plus police on that behind like white on rice. Too bad your fellow coworkers will keep coming here airing you all out and YOU Anon cant do a damn thing about it lol.Did you come here to try and intimate the coworkers & city employees that expose it all. WE ALL WILL CONTINUE TO COME ON THIS SITE AND KEEP SHARING LANCASTERS BAD APPLES. DONT LIKE IT DONT COME HERE. REGARDLESS WHAT YOU SAY WE’LL BE HERE TOMORROW SUPPORTING BECKY.

  2. Anon says:

Why? So you can rat them out and retaliate against them?? Seems to me co-workers like you are the reason for so-called “cowards”. BTW… Have you ever complained to HR about anything? Because how it works is: As soon as they know who you are, you get your 1st bad performance evaluation in 20 yrs for stuff that other coworkers do all the time, you are reassigned to bad hours and menial tasks, and your work environment immediately becomes hostile and unbearable – usually at the hands of people like you – until you are constructively – or otherwise fired, out of work for the first time in life, and blackballed so that you never find meaningful work in your chosen field again. THAT IS THE REALITY – NOT THE FANTASY WORLD YOU LIVE IN WHERE EVERYTHING IS FAIRLY DECIDED AND JUSTICE PREVAILS IN A COURT OF LAW. You are delusional if you think otherwise.

  3. Anon says:

Oh, Becky….that really isn’t the point of the conversation either, is it? But you don’t have much to say in reply to the actual conversation, so that is the best you can come up with, I am sure.

It would just be nice to know which of my coworkers felt it appropriate and professional to anonymously gossip and make serious allegations against their fellow coworkers and supervisors in this kind of forum.

    • Becky says:

I am wondering if you are at work how you have all this time to send in comments? Are you paid with taxpayer funds?

  4. Anon says:

Sticking to the point of my comments and the discussion……I’m not sure how anonymous gossiping on blog sites is trying to do the right thing….

  5. J.P. says:

Anon – you commented “Seems like they are either cowards or liars to me. And, if is that they are so worried about their jobs and/or “retaliation”……maybe they shouldn’t be working in a place they find so corrupt and unethical. Maybe they should stand up instead of being so cowardly and two-faced.”

Some of us did speak up and we were retaliated against. And I know that there are several people in various departments that have filed complaints… Before you call someone a coward, please stop to think that the majority of the people that speak up are barely getting by on the salary the county offers – but it is a job and we need a job in order to survive. Some were lucky and got out alive. Others are still stuck in there and suffering because they tried to do the right thing.

  6. Anon says:

These aren’t people stepping forward to the authorities to seek justice and solutions in a process that will eventually lead to a fair trial where both sides are heard in an appropriate manner/forum. These are people gossiping to a blog site.

  7. Anonymous says:

Anonymous sources have been some of the best resources. Deep Throat. Victims and whistleblowers for the Boston Globe’s Catholic church scandal. So much of the time if a source identifies too early, that person experiences smear and retribution that clouds and obscures the whole point of the matter.

There are fewer and fewer “giraffes” willing to stick their necks out these days. And rightly so.

  8. Anon says:

Especially since most of the people making the allegations on here appear to be (or imply that they are) public employees.

  9. Anon says:

I agree my 2 cents. And Anonymous, my 2 cents isn’t making allegations or claiming to have some insider information while hiding who they are. It is real easy to make claims against real people and use their names in public while not revealing your own. Seems like they are either cowards or liars to me. And, if is that they are so worried about their jobs and/or “retaliation”……maybe they shouldn’t be working in a place they find so corrupt and unethical. Maybe they should stand up instead of being so cowardly and two-faced. If some of their claims are actually real, they would have the law behind them anyways, so why hide?

  10. Anonymous says:

Hey my 2 cents – use YOUR real name. We all know you are a cop. And while you are at it, look up the definition of “retaliation”. Dumbsh*t…

  11. WTF? says:

You’ve not made any argument as to how you could fact check a comment whether it was submitted signed or unsigned. They’re comments, you’re free to take them seriously or not. My feeling, and it’s only my opinion, is that what Becky writes matters, the comments below including mine not very much at all. I don’t believe or disbelieve a comment based on whether it’s signed or not. You’re free to take them in whatever way you please.

  12. my 2 cents says:

this isn’t just a comment board. There are a lot of accusations flying around as well. I can see its snowing, but if I had no windows, how do I know its snowing?? So how would I know if your Karen russel or your anonymous is telling the truth. I can call russel or at least find her and check her facts. How do you suppose I check your anonymous facts?? So both your statements might be true but how do you verify them? Kinda like reporting the news, you gotta verify your info before you publish it. Even Becky does that. So your so called comment board, how do you verify the stuff being posted??? Should I just take your word for it?? don’t think so.

  13. WTF? says:

I should have said comment section. 2 cents:

    “It’s snowing.”

    Karen Russel

    “It’s snowing.”

Is one of those statements more true than the other?

  14. WTF? says:

What’s the point 2 cents? Is something more true or less true because of who says it? A truth spoken anonymously is still truth and opinion signed by its author doesn’t automatically make it true. This is a comment board. I don’t think anyone ever changes another’s opinion in these comments, do you?

  15. my 2 cents says:

I love how all these people on this site are supposedly, “in the know”, but we don’t know who any of you are. Lots of disgruntle people on here, leads me to think you have been wronged in the past and just like to bitch. If you really wanted change this would be the last site you should be posting on. This site might have more juice if people would use their names and back up their claims. Only ever saw 2 people on here use their own names, Becky and Rosa Sadler. I shouldn’t say that, there have been a few others, but not too many. Sure would be nice to know who you all are and what you think you know. Pipe dream, I know!

  16. WTF? says:

Esq. So why didn’t the parties themselves petition the AG’s office to investigate? A recent year long investigation of accusations against a local police chief and his Dept by the AG turned up nothing. The accuser is ironically always whining about false accusations directed at him. Sure hope your case has more substance.

  17. Esq. says:

The county is afraid of a lawsuit due to the illegal actions of a certain police department with the tacit approval of the d-a’s office, which has immunity from civil prosecution. The d-a has refused formal requests to investigate the police dept. – which he is not allowed to do and has deliberately kept commissioners in the dark, instead of turning any request for investigation over to the A.G.’s office. Stedman and the police chief for whom he is covering have left the county holding the bag and they are concerned about their liability in all of this. And rightly so, as, “We didn’t know about any of this” is not a viable defense to a civil action such as the one they may be facing. Stedman represents the Commonwealth but works for the county. Their “employee” has f*cked them royally while keeping his hands (relatively) clean.I know EVERYTHING about this case. The COUNTY needs to convene a grand jury if it wants to come out on the winning end.

  18. Layne Kisster says:

You know Steadman is pure slime when LNP goes after him.

  19. Anonymous says:

An “all out war” between Craig Stedman, Lancaster County Commissioners and LNP is not disturbing. It is REFRESHING. The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office has not been “above reproach” for decades. It has been under the radar ever since Stedman was first elected. Hence, his re-elections. I just hope EVERYTHING gets out before the judicial election so he is forced to drop out of the race. Especially since his republican opponent’s name is not as well-known (because he’s not a media whore) and the feckless Democrats don’t even have a candidate. There is MUCH more county commissioners and the public do not know….

  20. huh? says:

I’m suspicious. Call me sceptical. This sudden animosity between the DA and the LNP.

Could it have anything to do with Murry’s case against the LNP? Is the DA not giving the LNP what it wants?

There is something very fishy here. All this ink being spent on the DA negatively? It just doesn’t follow the regular game plan we’ve seen for years.

I figure another big DNA case is going to break in the near future. Distracted public. Erma Kaylor is a sympathetic victim. I guess we’ll be waiting.

  21. Seriously says:

Stedman has nowhere to go if he does not become a judge. His tactics are frightening at best, and potentially criminal at worst. Unfortunately power sometimes breeds corruption. This is a sad scenario for politics in general, the GOP specifically, and an office which has for decades been above reproach. I hope Ms. Adams is prepared for the challenge that awaits her.

  22. WTF? says:

Supreme Court issued a unanimous opinion reigning in the fast and loose use of civil asset forfeiture on February 28. Reminder to LE the Constitution applies to you too.

  23. Are Stedman and Martin best friends?
Walk like a duck and talks like a duck, it must be a duck

  24. Rednek says:

Whether or not Stedman continues to be the ‘endorsed’ candidate, I will definitely NOT vote for him. hopefully the ‘endorsement’ will be pulled, provided the Republican party leaders do the ethical thing.

  25. Anonymous says:

Is this public war deeply disturbing or is it a positive to be celebrated? I’ve been reading from here a liberal perspective and from Ron harper a conservative perspective for years how Stedman is one of the most unethical local gov officials. Maybe this is a sign that all hope is not lost in lancaster county.

There is actually a chance right now he may not become a judge and will end up leaving the DA office. A complete defeat for Stedman! A validation of the years of work Becky and Ron have put into exposing corruption and unethical behavior!

  26. Becky says:

Stedman may have “complete control of seized assets” but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to tell the public what happened to the seized assets and how much money they produced!
