Yesterday, it was announced that charges were filed against a RRTA bus driver from an accident the week before in which a pedestrian was injured. There still have not been any charges filed against Debra Slaymaker-Walker for an accident she caused that killed two high school students over a month ago on October 26th.
The picture on the right is of District Attorney Craig Stedman’s spokesman, Brett Hambright, on the horrific accident scene the day the two students were killed.
Where are the charges? Where is a follow-up from the DA’s office?
Will anyone in Lancaster see that justice is applied equally and that justice is done?

***  LNP – you can not expect people to pay for a subscription when your lead story online is about a pet bakery opening!
And is this over the top and ridiculous or am I wrong (the picture on the right is from their Instagram page – click here)?  Do dogs and cats really care if their food and snacks looks like human food? A strawberry? Really? I wonder how much they cost…

**   And a name from the past showed up on Knapp’s Facebook page:

*    LNP has a new “digital editor” and this was posted on their Facebook page yesterday:

Former LNP reporter Tom Knapp on his Facebook page yesterday.

Please check back later today.

  1. huh? says:

BTW, Hamdim looks awfully lawyerly wannabe in that pic. Wonder if he is going to some diploma mill night school

  2. Ohwellist says:

Yes good point huh. Also which bus driver was charged? They really have no patience always throwing the bus into lanes even when cars are coming with no care just to make it to the next bus stop on time

  3. huh? says:

Accidents of that magnitude?? Give me a break when it comes to Lancaster’s DA’s office. The “accidental” death of Davis’s newborn was wrapped up before Mass on Christmas day started.

  4. Anonymous says:

LNP should be initiating lay-offs / terminations from the top down in order to keep troops on the ground. Way too many editorials/middle management.

    The end is in sight……………

  5. Anonymous says:

You know darn well that accidents of that magnitude can take months to investigate properly. Just go back a read past accounts of serious accidents and you will see that. Are you suggesting the police quickly and carelessly investigate this accident just so charges are filed quickly to satisfy you?

  6. Lang Kisster says:

I hope he’s ticked off enough to dish dirt on LNP

  7. huh? says:

    I wish him well.

  8. huh? says:

I agree with you. I think that he would be suited better for a communication director for a nonprofit he believes in. He certainly has been the loyal employee for sure. And look where it got him. It must really sting to have compromised so often.

There must be something more that the LNP is up to. That post from the new digital person sounds more like a go fund me plea than a message from a for profit.

I really think that when Peggy is no longer on this earth that the remaining family members are tired of playing newspaper and will sell if there are any buyers. They are probably pissed that they haven’t been able to offload the white elephant already.

    • Becky says:

Connie Kondravy of ORCA (Organization for Responsible Care of Animals) told Tom to call her so there might be something there…

  9. huh? says:

I am sorry to read this. I don’t bask in the schadenfreude of others for the most part. (Trump would be an exception of course).

Especially right before Christmas. I do appreciate Gil’s response to Knapp. But will Knapp be able to find another journo job? Smart had his Bill O’Reilly moment which may have added to his visibility and opportunity to get out of Lancaster and on to something else.

I could see Knapp going for, say, a communications director sort of job for an ASPCA or other animal / humane league sort of job. He has written extensively about animal welfare in Lancaster (not always giving the complete story but at least making an attempt to inform others on cruelty to animal cases etc.) He ought to explore that angle IMHO.

I wonder if he was “demoted” to the animal beat a while back for something he wrote that was controversial in the Steinman eyes.

A hope I have which is probably an impossibility is that he will be a whistle blower of sorts. Maybe? Who knows…

I also wonder if he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement with the LNP in return for a severance package. These reporters, and Marv Adams for that matter, seem to go away and never have anything more to say about their former employer. Deibert was there and gone and Fitzpatrick (I think that was his name) was here and gone.

Like I said in the beginning – just in case Knapp has continued to review your site, Becky – I wish him no ill will and I hope that he is able to land something soon. Smart did it and I hope that Knapp can too. I also wonder how many of these former LNP employees leave and kick themselves in the butts for not speaking out but rather bite the bullets for economic reasons. There has to be a former employee who will finally come forward in a way that shines light on the entire corrupt mess that Lancaster is.

    • Becky says:

I really am shocked. I don’t think Knapp was a great reporter – I don’t think LNP lets any reporter be a great reporter – but he was a workhorse for them and stayed strictly loyal to them. Very odd.
