    1. Thanks for posting this.. any updates you know that the press don’t post will be intersting

    2. Two law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Robert D. Bowers, 46. The officials requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the investigation.

Social media activity linked to Mr. Bowers suggested a history of virulent anti-Semitism, filled with slurs and references to anti-Jewish conspiracy theories.

    3. In January, an account an account linked to Mr. Bowers was created on Gab, a social network that bills itself as a haven for free speech. The app, which grew out of claims of anti-conservative bias on Facebook and Twitter, is a popular gathering place for alt-right activists and white nationalists whose views are unwelcome on other services.

Same New York Times article as above.

In 1968-1969 I served my seminary internship in a parish just a few miles from where this shooting occurred. I thought things were bad back then in urban Pittsburgh with all the racial tension and street violence, but this is beyond the pale. I watched the President recite nice words off a teleprompter at the FFA gathering, but how long before he’s back at another pre-election rally, spewing his divisiveness and incitement to anger? All I can ask myself is, “What has happened to the United States of America?” Even our houses of God are now targets of hatred… where does this all end? Just before his flight the President suggested that the solution lies in arming security officers inside houses of worship! As a still-practicing parish pastor I am broken-hearted as I say that, tomorrow morning, my family will worship inside a locked-up tight Lutheran church here in Winnipeg, while I lead worship in a rural church with (still) open doors. God help us all!
