*     I don’t know how they can publish the entire LNP story on LancTalk.com, but if it continues it might bring some life back to the essentially dead forum and give “prettylight” someone to talk to!

If you have not purchased a digital subscription to Lancaster Online and want to read a story, you can go to LancTalk.com and read the entire article there.

That’s the LNP news staff? I thought it was a photo of the membership of a Swedish restricted country club!

The LNP staff photo is one giant white bread sandwich! It reminds me of a hobby of mine–watching reruns of the old Perry Mason TV shows. The drama is okay, but not a person of color appears in most episodes. Is LNP stuck in some 1950’s time warp?

It’s done automatically via the use of an RSS bot. Rather than try to explain, here is a link

The fact that the bot is still operational and active is a flaw in their paywall. Lanctalk is doing nothing illegally. If you look at the archives of Lanctalk you will see that is how the LNP articles have always been uploaded to their website.

It’s up to the LNP to patch this hole in their software.

Wikipedia also, I’m sure, has an explanation of the RSS bot and how it works.

Thanks, huh? I didn’t mean to imply they might be doing anything “illegal.” Apparently they are just getting the feed the way they always have. Interesting.

  4. OnTheBeachByNoon says:

Not illegal. Its called copy and paste. No more illegal than borrowing a book from the library, letting a friend read it and returning it. Or, akin to republishing with attribution. They cannot steal the work and claim it as their own…or reprint it for money i.e. charge people on their site. But they can use it in other ways that are not illegal.

    • Becky says:

Nonsense. No one is cutting and pasting anything. They obviously have a feed that sends them the articles automatically as they are uploaded to Lancaster Online. How they have avoided the new paywall is the question.

  5. Lang Kisster says:

    Isn’t that kind of illegal?
