  • AFTERNOON UPDATE – WHAT IF IT WAS NEXT DOOR TO THE CONVENTION CENTER?

    GET TO WORK!

There is a city council committee meeting tonight at 6:00 pm. Will newly elected city councilman Ismail Smith Wade-El make it? He does not have a good attendance record!
And has 28-year-old Wade-El, whose official address is at his mother’s house, ever had a lease in his name or had to pay rent? Has he ever had a utility bill in his name? How was he elected to city council?
As a commenter under this photo on his Facebook page noted his “nail game is on point.” Yes, it certainly is. And so is his hair. But does he have anything of substance going on? If he wants to be a “career politician,” his actions have to match his words! And so far, he’s been all talk and no action!

    WHERE’S THE MONEY?

From the Google street view of 639 Beaver Street taken in August of 2017. The house next to it was up for sale through Berkshire Hathaway. I wonder how that’s going?

In the meantime, Bousquet [Karen Bousquet, the city’s deputy director of economic development and neighborhood revitalization] said the redevelopment authority doesn’t have money to pay for repairs beyond securing the property, mowing the grass, clearing snow and cleaning up trash.
From the Sunday “Watchdog” article about 639 Beaver Street (click here).
Suddenly the city doesn’t have money! Imagine that? Where did it all go?
    Please check back later today.

    1. It IS interesting as to which buildings are torn down and which just sit there. Zap and Co. was torn down in a wink of an eye.

    2. Just a note about Steve Murray who owned Zap and Co. – he has addressed city council several times and the last time was to speak very strongly against tearing down the Water Street Mission warehouse.

    3. Since tourists don’t go to Beaver St. Who cares? Right Mayor Dick…Sorace. Mayor Sorace. It’s so had to tell the difference.

    4. Speaking of Zap and Co., has there ever been a final accounting of what exactly caused the explosion and fire there?

    5. I don’t think so. I found an LNP article from a year after the fire that states:
the cause of which remains undetermined.

      ‘Mr. Zap is back’

    6. Stedman Stinks

Regarding Wade-El: Maybe he’s grounded and can’t leave the house.

    7. I hadn’t thought of that! 🙂

    8. His male bashing mommy Rita Smith Wade-El has him tied to her apron strings. Growing up, she’d never pass up any opportunity to berate him in public.

    9. I wish that the neighbors next to and across from the house could just go past the yokels and to a state or federal entity and plead their case. More and more people who are stuck in these situations need to make noise at the state level.

And what about the owners? Shouldn’t the city be going after them? Maybe I missed that part.

    10. The city – the Redevelopment Authority – owns it!

    11. Off topic. The debarked dogs rescued from a Quarryville puppy mill last week. No name of the illegal breeder has been released. Any chance you can find out?

    12. It made 6ABC in Philly. Does anyone recognize where the photos are from? I’ll try calling the PSPCA.

‘Debarked’ dogs removed from Pa. breeder’s home

    13. I have found an unlicensed breeder in Quarryville selling Doberman pups.
