    LNP: REPORT THE TRUTH!

    Phillip Smith

Incest of Minor- Complainant 13-18 years of age (F2)
From the Lancaster City Police Press release on the arrest and charges lodged against Phillip Smith (click here).
LNP doesn’t mention the incest charge in their very brief article – click here for “WJTL radio DJ Phil Smith arrested, charged with rape, other sex offenses.”
Even in the #MeToo era, incest is still taboo. Why?
    Please check back later today.

    1. I for one am glad that they omitted that charge in the article.

Omitting the safe and purposely cropping out the safe in the reporting on the murder by four men was stupid and another example of the newspaper censoring information at the behest of whomever.

Omitting the incest charge seems to be a compassionate choice. I think you might understand how the nattering masses would be piling on the daughter, remembering how you have been piled on when reporting your own incest story. I don’t fault the paper for omitting that part of the charges.

    2. PS I just read the police report and see that they pretty much lay it all out. Newspapers usually don’t identify victims of rape and incest. Therefore by reporting that it was an adopted daughter along with her age would pretty much I.D. the victim.

    3. is sex with an adopted daughter “incest”? i thought, by def., incest was blood relations.

    4. No – foster and adopted children are included.

For the purposes of incest laws, “family” can mean several things: blood relations, family by adoption or marriage (including step-family members), foster families, and sometimes even “family-like” situations (such as a parent and child who live with the parent’s boy- or girlfriend).
