Why didn’t LNP ever report that former Lancaster City Police Chief Keith Sadler’s ex-wife wrote a book alleging he beat her for years and made her partially blind?
Money: The convention center and their Marriott Hotel.
LNP and former Mayor Rick Gray had an agreement: He would back the convention center and keep funneling money LNP’s way and LNP in return would give him nothing but good press. It “worked.” They covered for the Mayor’s incompetence,  arrogance and lies and he stayed in office for three terms and during those terms he funneled LNP millions and millions of dollars.
Someone or several people in the Gray administration failed to properly vet Sadler. It made his administration look incompetent and foolish and LNP wanted no part of that. So they chose to simply ignore it and allow a police chief whose ex-wife wrote a book stating he beat her to stay in office for years. Sadler could have easily sued her but he choose not to – probably because her children and others would confirm it.
And, yes, I think LNP liked the fact that Sadler was African-American. It gave the city an outward appearance of being “progressive” and helped to hide the astonishing racism that exists within LNP’s own staff and the county.
Money is the sole, greedy, totally unethical and terribly harmful to all women, reason LNP decided not to inform the public that the police chief – let me state that unbelievable fact again – the police chief – was a wife beater!

*    Ok, Cat lovers which one of you will take the 5 strays I have? The mother was dropped off in my yard and had kittens 7 months ago. SPCA won’t take them and none of the other shelters in Lancaster county will either, I have called them all. SPCA charges $ 50.00 per cat and still wouldn’t take them. I caught three and took them to the Lancaster branch willing to pay the $ 150.00, but they say the cats are too feral and I had to bring them back home. TNR is $ 30.00 to $ 50.00 each and I have to bring the cats back home. I don’t want the cats they keep killing birds at my feeders.

Posted on Lancaster Online under the story, “East Earl Township man charged with shooting, killing cat surrenders to police,” (click here).
LNP has kept this as a lead story for two days and the comments under it are all over the place.
I had/have a similar situation as the above poster and sadly I have only one piece of advice: Do not feed feral cats. Period.

LNP opinion editor Suzanne Cassidy retweeted the above yesterday. The CNN piece is here.
Former Lancaster City Police Chief Keith Sadler’s ex-wife, Rosaura Torres Thomas, has started a blog and talks about the physical damage he did to her eyesight following years of abuse in her first post (click here).
Please check back later today.

  1. huh? and Becky as I sit here enlarging your comments all I can say is thank you, thank you and again thank you. I am in tears!!

    Be bless always

  2. huh? says:

Sorry for the word that was misspelled. Sadler. Damned autocorrect

  3. huh? says:

Brava on your Sandler follow up.

  4. huh? says:

Wondering what the money angle would be?

BTW, I don’t see any takers on this guy’s cat offer over on the LNP. If he happens to read your site, I’d suggest getting whatever feral cats are there in cages and then spayed or neutered. We used to do that with feral cats. They would fix them and then cut a small notch in their ear to show that they were already fixed and couldn’t procreate.

    • Becky says:

The money angle is coming this afternoon.

No, no one is offering to take his cats and as he said – TNR (trap, neuter and release) costs money – is not as easy as it sounds – they are feral – and he doesn’t want them back which I fully understand!

PS I also think that race played a part in their decision to just ignore it all. The fact that Sadler was the first African American chief of police (I do recall I didn’t realize that when I saw a photo of him) they didn’t want to appear as opposed to him in any way. And not having one minority writer on the newspaper’s staff often causes “white guilt” in the work place that bleeds into whatever reporting they do.

  6. huh? says:

I’ve thought long and hard about the entire Rosario situation in the past couple of months.

I’ve a few thought about it that I would like to share.

If I were the editor or a writer, especially a woman, for the LNP, I would certainly have written about this whole Sadler thing.

Their silence tends to make me think that they spoke to Sadler and it is possible that he framed his ex in terms that satisfied them that she was mentally ill or fantasizing or making up these accusations against him. And they bought it and never referenced it.

You would also think that they would have wanted to get to the bottom of it all and either exonerated him or posed questions that had to be answered.

But they ignored it. And you know they read your blog and they continued to ignore it. It seems to me that the only possible explanation is that they went to him and took his word about it all being bogus.

Could there be another scenario? Maybe someone has some alternative thoughts on this. Mine here are only mine and only opinion. And that is how it goes… unless the whole deal is faced head on it simmers just under the surface.

If we look at all the women who have come forward that have been written about in the past few months, all of them said that their complaints when they made them were dismissed by men. Were Rosario’s accusations dismissed by Sadler and the women writers and editors submitted and so they didn’t investigate further?
