     * Joe!  Representative Joe Pitts.  This is Beverly (Peggy) Steinman, owner of the Lancaster Newspapers!  Would you like some money?  I have lots!  Let me open my Vera Bradley handbag and give you some.  I give under the name “Showcase of Fashions,” don’t you know?  We sell lovely Vera Bradley bags and that’s about all, Joe.  But go here and see if there’s something your wife might like!  We’ll call it a tax “write off!!”  I’ve made millions off the people of Lancaster County, don’t you know?

Ethically challenged: Pa. Legislature must end gift charade

The title to today’s Intell editorial, (click here).

This is the most outrageous, hypocritical, pot calling the kettle black headline I have yet to see in the Lancaster Newspapers.  They have zero eithics!  Absolutely zero! Tell it to your boss, Beverly Steinman, Earle D. Cornelius!
    Please check back later today.

    1. I don’t know Becky. I think she is more Louis Vuitton. The Vera Bradley’s are only for us locals.

    2. 😛

    3. Fashion most certainly is not my thing but that is the strangest website I have ever seen – they certainly don’t seem to sell much and you can’t order on line:

      – Under “Fashion” they have exactly three outfits by “Teri Jon” and two blank spaces where apparently fashions should be.

      – Under “Accessories” they have Vera Bradley handbags, a “Alynn” tie, a “Lilly” scarf (I think it’s a scarf) and a “Misc” wallet (I know misc is miscellaneous but I’m not sure it’s a wallet – I don’t know what the heck it is – maybe another scarf).

      – Under “Jewelry” they have exactly two pieces – one designer unnamed and one by “Gay Boyer.”

      – Under “Gift Shop” they have exactly seven items which are some of the strangest things I have ever seen.

AND THERE IS NOT A PRICE TO BE FOUND FOR ANYTHING! I GUESS IF YOU HAVE TO ASK YOU CAN’T AFFORD IT?

      😛

    4. You’d think she’d have at least one bowtie for the Mayor! 😛

    5. Of course, the convention center/hotel remains one of the most unethical things for the Lancaster Newspapers ever:

      Act Independently
Journalists should be free of obligation to any interest other than the public’s right to know.
      Journalists should:
—Avoid conflicts of interest, real or perceived.
      — Remain free of associations and activities that may compromise integrity or damage credibility.

You can open any ethics code for media in this country and find the independence clause:

    6. Sounds like Showcase of Fashion is really giving Walmart a run for their money! Damn that competition. Thank God LNP has none. But we do have a lot of impervious surface area. Better start selling some White Stag.

    7. Hah! The Suitcase of Fashion is what we called it.

Always reminded me of one of those pizza parlors that are locally owned but never seem to have customers and yet they stay open year after year. Money laundering at its best.
