This time I talked to my wife and ah,ah,ah, again I’m pushing seventy and Gail said, ‘You’ve given time to your church – you were on the vestry; you’ve given time to your profession – you were president of the Bar Association, President of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; you’ve given time to your avocation – you were Chairman of the Board of the American Motorcyclists Association; you’ve given time to your community – you’ve been Mayor now going on eight years. When are you going to give time to your family?’

What a lying, nasty bum! That was clever to get all of those titles in there (while reading from your notes) and then you tell Gail to go pound sand and announce you’re running again anyway!
What a jerk! No wonder you maintain a Chief of Police who is not only incompetent but a wife-beater as well!
Last week, Dr. Phil had a liar on his show and gave some excellent tips on how to catch a liar. One was someone who says things like “to be completely honest with you” because that means everything up to that point has not been honest and you can be pretty sure what he is about to tell you now won’t be honest either. I immediately thought of Gray and his constant and annoying use of “Frankly.”
Frankly, Mayor Gray, the quality of life in Lancaster has not improved. I do not see one word about crime in this article and there is a reason for that! I suggest the Republicans put up a “tough on crime” candidate and they will win in a heartbeat. Remember, Gray only beat Charlie (Cannonball) Smithgall by about 300 votes in the last election!
There will be much more on misogynistic Gray in the days to come. Dump him, Gail!
A note to “Ivanna Tinkle” who has a comment below the article (nice name by the way!): I am not Mike Buckerson! He obviously reads this site (hey, a lot of people do!) but he is also a racist and if you’d pay any attention and have the slightest intellectual ability you would realize that.

You are truly a flaming idiot. The courts could care less what the newspaper reports. The courts secure a murder conviction, not the newspaper. I can see why you are no longer employed by any legitimate media outlets. BTW…you don’t pay the detectives, the city does. You don’t even pay city taxes.
Since I have seen old Buckaroo (another racist) complaining on the “People of Lancaster” Facebook page about my supposedly not posting comments that disagree with me, I thought I’d post his stupid comment on the front page and I’ll answer it tomorrow.
And that, of course, brings up Pete Ruggieri, also known as “Evil Pete,” who runs the page and also claims to be running for Mayor (see this morning’s post). There will be much more on Pete over the weekend.
And yes, that’s Pete in the above picture at the Santa Stumble. Hey, I just realized he and Rick Gray have the same taste in fashion!

If I were an advisor for the Republican candidate in the city of Lancaster, I would would make light of the 14 maybe 15 unsolved homicides since Gray took office. Since Gray likely will use Switzer’s numbers, I would also have a list available. I would expose his broken promises on the convention center and surveillance cameras. I would get behind the city fire fighters since the residents think highly of them and Gray does not. I would point out the annual rise of 150-200 violent offenses since Gray took office. I would deem the one hauler trash system as a monopoly and anti-American. I would also note to the public that Gray’s pursuit of an art district is nothing more than his wife’s wishes because she owns a gallery.

Lets not forget Lancaster’s huge hispanic population in which Gray has ignored.

I hope Republicans come up with somebody because a Gray vs. Ruggieri ballot is humiliating. The Goober vs. the Childish Imbecile.

…the problem that anyone who runs against Gray on a platform of Law and Order will face is that police and fire cost serious amounts of MONEY, especially since the Great Recession trashed everyone’s retirement funds. This is made worse by the fact that police and fire do NOT get Social Security; their only source of retirement income is their pension, which is fixed at the time of retirement and NEVER INCREASES.
To keep costs under control, Gray has cut staff across the board, including police and fire. Under Gray, Lancaster City Fire no longer has a second alarm response on duty, for the first time since Lancaster City went to all paid firefighters in the late 1800s.
What it will take to seriously combat crime in Lancaster City is to seriously increase the number of police and detectives. Smithgall did this with grant money, but when it ran out Gray was forced to deal with the dramatically increased costs. Anyone who would run for mayor on a law-and-order platform would have to explain how they would come up with the money needed to do so.
UNFORTUNATELY, as Federal and State funding continues to fade away, the only available answer is significantly increased real estate taxes – a tough sell in the best of times.

One quick reply – I disagree about reducing crimes! There are a ton of detectives – but THEY DO NOTHING! Fire them and replace them with a competent detective force!

Let’s remember the the satellite dishes that aren’t allowed on the front of your house because they are an eyesore…but what’s really an eyesore is the lancsster city donut shop. The train station is another problem but the quailty of lancaster continues to improve, yeah ok…. the planters downtown always look good. Thats about all that’s good. I’ll save my rant about those damn fireworks for another day. Dont run again dick, you are really not all that no matter what you think.
