SCHREIBER – RETURN OF A LOSER!
Posted on September 18th, 2012 2 commentsNEW BLOOD NEEDED!
Well, the reaction to the return of Ernie Schreiber to save the Lancaster Newspapers has not been well received to say the least! Apparently the biggest change we can expect is the return of the TV Guide! It makes you wonder how many subscribers they lost when they stopped it several weeks ago. Sounds like an awful lot of people bought the Sunday News for that reason and that reason only!
I mentioned this morning that I called Schreiber at home several months ago in shock over the actions of the Lancaster Police, and I should have added the Lancaster Newspapers as well. Let’s just say I was not impressed. In fact, I have on several occasions seriously considered sending him a letter to tell him what a pathetic, lying and slimy human being he is.
But I will give him several days to see if anything really has changed and for him to report on Police Chief Keith Sadler’s past prior to printing that conversation. The public has a right and a need to know about the history of the man who is leading the Lancaster Police Department and the Lancaster Newspapers have a clear duty and responsibility to inform the public of it.
I’ll let others do the rest of the talking today. The first two excellent comments came into this site today (thank you!) and the third comment was posted on Lancaster Online under the article about Schreiber.LNP is recycling a has-been who never was. Just another continuation of the ‘good ole boy’ network who will NOT challenge the Power Elite or the status quo. VERY disappointing, but also very much to be expected. LNP needs to be SOLD and totally NEW blood brought in!!
WOW, changes! I enjoyed reading the marital connection of Krasne to the Steinmans which is so important with business decisions (*insert eyeroll*).
“The newsroom changes come as Lancaster Newspapers conducts a national search for a new chief executive officer.” – the magic 8ball sees a wealthy, straight white male, late 40s-early 50s emerging from the pack to be the new CEO.
Nothing will change. I never received a response to any of my phone calls or emails regarding why they hired a Chief of Police with a history of domestic abuse.
My employer places a copy of the Lancaster News in the lunchroom every morning. It sits untouched, and is put in the recycling bin the next day. I have suggested they save money and cancel their subscription. When I look around the lunchroom, everyone is reading news on their phones, iPads, laptops … it is a different world from the Steinmans perspective.Charting a new direction? By rehiring a guy who retired after 37 years…all of which were under the same old regime? Do they really think we are that dumb? Pledge to the community? Do they realize how wrong it is that a media outlet, the sole and monopoly print media outlet, needs to be practicing a pretty poor brand of journalism to feel the need to issue such a pledge. How about just reporting the news? How about asking questions and demanding accountability? How about not allowing your paper to be the personal soapbox of those failing the public? How about staying out of the largest economic projects inside the County where you operate and are supposed to be impartial purveyors of news and not writing self-serving stories to pad not only your media bottom line but your real estate bottom line too? How about some new blood?

I think Ernie is just a placeholder until the newspaper unveils what so many others have. And that is just a few paper issues a week and the rest online.

We’ve been a daily and Sunday News subscriber since 1978. I am not a fan of Schreiber, but mostly as a result of LNP’s failure to truthfully and fully (Shaw’s departure) explain this current move, we just threw away the renewal notice.
