    BETRAYAL OF TRUST!

Lancaster Police Spokesperson Lt. Todd Umstead going door to door in the 200 block of West Vine Street on September 6th of this year. Umstead makes $86,358 a year. (Cropped photo courtesy of WGAL-TV.)

On May 30, 2012, I published the following after a phone call with Chief Sadler (click here):

Police Chief Keith Sadler – do not tell me the detectives are working around the clock on the murder of 83-year-old Erma Kaylor! Do not feed me your “trained professionals” platitudes. Today it is exactly two weeks since she was brutally murdered in her home.
Yesterday I spoke to the owner of the building and he said he has not spoken to the police. He said they have exchanged “a few voicemails.”
This is the owner of the building! This is the man Erma Kaylor’s neighbors say she called repeatedly to complain about the people in apartment #2 above her and your detectives have not spoken to him let alone interviewed him in person and at the property?
This is beyond outrageous! Bring in outside authorities now!

On September 6th, 2012, the Lancaster Police called WGAL-TV for a photo and story opportunity to show how hard they are working on this case (click here). Eight detectives, their combined annual salaries well over a half-a-million dollars a year, wore suits and ties to go door to door and spread flyers for one hour in the one block where Erma Kaylor lived for over twenty years and was brutally murdered on May 16th.
Lead detective on the case, Chris DePatto, then had the unmitigated gall to go on camera with WGAL and attempt to lay the blame for her murder not being solved on her neighbors for not providing enough information.
It is simply so outrageous and disgusting that I have trouble typing and this will continue tomorrow.
