* WHAT A HACK!
Posted on August 14th, 2012 37 comments* Please read the comments below this post and note this one from Rosa Torres-Sadler who can no longer drive because of her eyesight:
Becky, thank you for your compassion. Not all but…Some do not believe I had RETINAL DETACHMENT SURGERY. They say, I am not afraid? How do you know how I feel. I ran for 10 years of my life….Be blessed Becky, Don’t stop! Don’t Give up the fight.THERE’S BAD PEOPLE
AND BAD POLICE!“It’s more ways for us to get out information, but the downside of that is it’s the Internet. There’s bad people out there,” Umstead said.
Umstead said he noticed a jump in “likes” of the department’s Facebook page after the revamp.
“We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback,” he said. “I’d like to think we’re pretty progressive.”
The department has taken social media cues from the Philadelphia Police Department — where Chief Keith Sadler worked — and the Baltimore Police Department, where Umstead said he spent a day with its public information unit gathering ideas.
From today’s article by Dan Nephin, “Lancaster city police: Tweets weren’t from us – Said the ominous Twitter message didn’t come from them; also said their account has not been hacked,” (click here).
Oh, my God! This is what the Lancaster Newspapers bring you? Seriously? Did Sadler really work for the Philadelphia Police Department?
Do you think the Lancaster Police can solve this one? Will they catch any “bad” people today?
See the story immediately below (“DO YOUR JOBS!“) and please check back later today!37 responses to “* WHAT A HACK!”

Todd Umstead on Twitter April 12:
Taking a much needed break. Certain media types reeeeallllly starting to bug me. Time to unwind and reset.

Poor Todd! Some damn media type must have asked him if they’ve solved a crime!

Chief Sadler hasn’t tweeted yet: http://twitter.com/keith_sadler

I am sorry, I read the article. I am not a resident of Lancaster, PA but….Don’t you think the Police Department there has a lot more to worry about then someone hacking there twitter account.
I know personally many people tried to hack my account, no biggie. CHANGE THE PASS WORD. Funny, the Lancaster Newspaper finds this to be pressing news LOL!!
-
Rosa, don’t you think the Lancaster Police should be able to figure out who hacked their twitter account? It’s kinda their line of work!
-
And yes, the Lancaster Police have a great deal more to worry about than this nonsense! Unbelievable! The reporter, Dan Nephin, used to work for the Associated Press! How far he has fallen…

Isn’t it great that the City of Lancaster has so much extra money sloshing around in it’s coffers that it can afford to have a full time, highly paid officer like Bumstead, who probably makes about $80,000 per year plus his 8-12 weeks of vacation and the ability to retire at 20 years and get a larger annual retirement income at 45 years old than most city residents make working full time, travelling around, talking about social media sites with other departments and basically not doing a damn bit of work. I wonder how many department employees support him in his job?
-
You’re pretty close on his salary, Sitting. I’ll look it up. He and about 15 other dectectives are on the list of the 50 top paid people by the city – and they can’t solve a single crime!
-
Holy crap! Bumstead is at $86,358! Chief Sadler is number two at $119,457. http://images.lancasteronline.com/local_old/616277/snc_top_50_pay_a1.pdf
Remember when Sadler wrote his letter to the editor about this and defended their salaries! It’s a hoot and a half. I’ll look it up!
-
OMG! Almost that whole list is police detectives with the fire department having a few.
-
Sitting on his arse August 14th, 2012 at 09:24
And those outrageous salaries DO NOT include the unbelieveable benefit package. Do you know that the detectives get a new personal car to drive every two years?
-
Of the top 10 highest-paid employees, eight — including Chief Sadler — are police officers. Police Lt. Maurice Williams was the third-highest-paid city employee last year, earning $104,010. Of that, $16,093 was overtime pay.
$16,000 in overtime pay! That’s why these officers work “around the clock!”

A personal car? Seriously? WHY?????
-
Becky, I think you should be a consultant for the Lancaster Police Department. They seem to be falling short on the job. I know you will do a better job.
-
Rosa thanks, but I think almost anybody could do a better job! That personal car does sound inviting, though!
-
I agree there, anyone can
, and a free car does sound great. I miss driving

Becky,
As far as I can tell, your Aug. 6 post about Lancaster Online Talkback shutting down was incorrect. The forum is still active, and I found no announcement regarding its closure on lancasteronline.com.
On an unrelated note, I think you’ll be interested in watching the first episode of DEADLY AFFAIRS, a new show on the Investigation Discovery TV channel. The program is scheduled to air Saturday, Sept. 8 at 8:00pm. You can read about it here: http://www.sacbee.com/2012/08/02/4686031/twos-company-but-threes-a-crowd.html
-
Trashback is GONE!!! Not sure what you are referring to. The Lancaster Newspapers used to have a full-fledged forum like LancTalk.com. It’s gone. Now it’s that disgus thing or whatever to comment directly under the articles.
I don’t get the Discovery Channel but you will have to let me know!
From the outside, Michael and Jan Roseboro seem to have it all, but of course things aren’t always as they seem. When Michael meets Angie, a summertime fling quickly turns into a passionate romance. The affair becomes too hot to handle and, in the end, deadly. Location: Lancaster, PA
-
Rosa, I am so sorry you cannot drive! Every night I think about Sadler being the Chief and Lancaster not knowing about his past and I am just shocked and disgusted.
-
OMG! Look at these from the Police Log. I guess LNP isn’t even running them as articles anymore so when the police don’t catch anyone it isn’t as obvious:
LANCASTER: Two men assaulted and tried to rob another man Saturday in the 100 block of West King Street. They were described as a black man, unknown height and weight, wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans; and a white man, unknown height and weight, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.
LANCASTER: Three men wearing black masks jumped another man, hitting him in the head, early Saturday in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 401 New Holland Ave., taking his phone and keys. Victim had bruises and cracked teeth, and was bleeding from his mouth. Loss was $499.

-
And of course there was a “domestic violence” call – he was cited for harrassment:
LANCASTER: Christophe Miller, 22, of 846 Union St., was cited Friday after he shoved a woman and held her by the neck, while she was holding a child.

According to the law, police officers and firefighters do NOT pay Social Security taxes; they and their families are NOT eligible for any kind of Social Security benefits. Ever. That’s why their pensions seem to be so generous.
-
I have absolutely no idea if this is true or not. Doesn’t sound true. Checking…
-
Absoslutely incorrect!
-
I’ll revise that. It appears to be complicated.
-
So….Does this mean we can receive SS Benefits also?
-
??? I have to look into this Rosa. It seems to vary by state and in Philadlephia it does say that SS is not deducted from the police paychecks (which is a huge amount of additional money right there). Whether the Philly police can receive SS I have yet to absolutely find out. But their pensions, including Sadler who receives a full one, are so good I don’t know why they would need SS – but still checking.
-
http://phillypolice.com/careers/salary-and-benefits/
Maybe someone can find it?
-
And actually, I’m not sure why this is relevant to anything. They get an excellent salary, excellent benefits and an unbeatable pension. Whether or not they get SS is really not relevant except if they aren’t paying in they are getting a huge bonus in their paycheck every two weeks.
-
Thank you Becky…..I thought they did not receive SS.

Let’s keep the main thing the main thing… bad people are getting away with murder. that needs to stop! Where is the City of Lancaster’s plan to turn all this around. To have the chief of police posing on a great big horse never made a lick of sense to me. Now all this news of domestic abuse is deeply discouraging and should be addressed. But the main thing is…where is the justice for all the victims?
-

Whether or not they get social security is not an issue. They get huge salaries for doing work that is not any riskier than being a truck driver. Most of the officers have very limited education. They work great hours that gives them lots of time to spend with their families, play golf, take vacations, etc. They get months of vacation a year. The average pay is likely well over $70,000 per year. They can retire at 20 and 25 years of service and receive pensions, IMMEDIATELY, that are more than most people make working full time. And at 45 years old when we pay them to retire, they get other jobs that provide more income on top of their huge pensions.
I guess it wouldn’t be such an issue if they did something other than write traffic tickets and sit around posting on the internet.

OUTSTANDING BARRYINWINNIPEG!!!!!!!!!

Rosa, you will not believe what is on the front page of today’s paper! OMG!

Collectible classics?
Cop cards making a comeback in Lancaster Collectible classics?Recently, the city’s mounted patrol, which includes Chief Keith Sadler and Duke (trivia fact: Sadler learned to ride a horse after becoming chief here) got cards.
