   There were lots of questions, when LancTalk first came onto the scene, about who owned the site, who had access to poster info, etc, etc. I recall there was quite a pushback from folks loyal to that site. Full circle, as they say.

   Becky, there is no one powerful individual behind the scenes. There are a small handful of people who provide support, but NONE OF THEM are involved in its day-to-day operation.

   The site is truly a labor of love by Steve. At least during my short tenure as an administrator, Steve was the person who made sure that it all functions.

   When I ran a site, I also used Domains By Proxy. It’s only a small fee, and I used it so that my benefactor would be insulated from any grief that my sometimes controversial posts would cause.

   BTW, I have spent far too many hours playing with WordPress over the past few weeks trying to set up a site for a group I work with. Eventually, I had to give up; I’m going to use HTML like I did for my old site. WordPress works well for a blog, but is far too limiting for most other kinds of sites.

   P.S. Sorry about so many questions but what are you trying to say about WordPress?

   Hmmm…. so you have the audacity to repeatedly insult us, while enjoying our free forums, go on to call us “pathetic” because our free service isn’t good enough for you… and then when we upgrade the site, software, features, speed and stability, you just go on bashing instead of acknowledging that a group of people spend their precious time (and money) trying to keep a free site usefull to a large group of people.

   But I guess I should remember that there’s a reason why you run a pathetic little wordpress blog where only you can post stories, allegations, bitch-sessions or anything else – It’s all about poor Becky the victim, who needs to lash out at anyone who doesn’t give her everything she wants right away and with some groveling.

   As was said before, if the site doesn’t suit you then by all means don’t visit us. We won’t really notice.

    WOW! WOW! WOW! I am completely shocked at the response from citydweller. This is not what you would expect. I would suggest ignoring him and his site.

    Becky: I don’t post there because I am far too emotional about far too many issues. I made a total and complete fool of myself, and promised I would avoid allowing myself to do so again.

    Steve: I put together this site for her. If it is pathetic, it is a direct reflection on my own lack of experience and ability.

    Artie, you did an unbelievable job. If I had my druthers, this site would like like NewsLanc.com (also a WordPress site). That’s a dream that is not going to happen any time soon and may never happen.

    And Artie, you did not make a fool of yourself. You were baited by a racist! Funny, to make “UNSOLVED MURDERS” stand out at the top of this site, I deleted four other older pages of comments just this past Friday. Some of them dealt with that situation and I’ll go through them. I still have them – I just took them down for now.

    I know for a fact we don’t always agree on certain topics but hell you never threw me under the bus. I agree with artie…i get very emotional about certain topics……even on this site…but damn…..i still post it’s my opinion, don’t like it too bad.

    Steve and his minions are a joke. I steer way clear of that site. In my opinion LNP really dropped the ball when they killed Talkbalk and opened the door for someone to fill the void. Steve was not, is not, and never will be the answer. From the start it was clear his little fiefdom would not work…Artie’s ouster being a great example of that. In reality, the only way such site can survive is through commercial sales, sponsorship and content. The talk alone is not enough. LNP always had their crappy “journalism” to go with the talk, others need something: local information, entertainment calendar, etc. I would have felt better about LT if they were up front on their intention to sell ads and have commercial success from the start…there is nothing wrong with that. Instead, we got Steve’s platitudes about his egalitarian forum. Without other content, any forum is now marginalized by the fact that LNP, even with all of their faults, is now offerring a forum again. Like it or not, they own the news, if you want to call it that, and therefore are the natural place to discuss it. Becky, keep your chin way up… criticism from Steve at LT can be considered nothing but a badge of honor.

    All the forum sites are cesspools. Filthy mouths, wingers of one persuasion on one site and the other persuasion on the other site. Disagree with the majority horde? Nothing but personal attack. On LT the attacks even come from the moderators. Good places to stay away from.

    Oh my goodness….lighten up. You people take the talk forums waaayyy to seriously. Lanc Talk, TalkBack, and many others, are a means to bat around ideas and discussions. Yes people will disagree and some get nasty and testy. So what!! Brush it off and move on. I enjoy both LancTalk and Talkback and have learned a lot over the years. So a special thanks to those who have made those sites possible. I also enjoy Becky’s site and think she has shed light on various important issues. During the Roseboro trial, I found myself viewing her site every day. So thanks Becky.

    That being said, I know there are those that don’t like me or my viewpoints. I know that Citydweller, Why, Garden Guy and a few others can’t stand me and some of my viewpoints, but who cares. Maybe it is my Anabaptist roots, and growing up in a culture that always made me different from the mainstream, or maybe it was coming from a family with all brothers and no sisters, that I learned to let some things just roll off me, and that my self esteem and self worth isn’t dependent on what people on a talk forum think about me.

    So why don’t we all appreciate our differences and get our undies out of a bunch.

    Goldi, I can’t agree with your position on gays/gay marriage, sigh, but you know I adore you anyway. (Do think about it though .)

    I can’t stay out of a good forum talk

    A few points I’ll make.

    Running a website, is cheap for the most part.

    LancTalk runs on IPB that is $175 a license, for another $20 they could have went with vBulletin but I digress.

    Hosting should be real cheap for a single site. Like $5 a month, $10 at most.

    As Becky mentioned, no-one should be spending any more then $9 a year on a domain name.

    soooo, really, it is cheap.

    Things do get expensive, I run my sites on a dedicated server, my HALF of that payment per month is $70. That covers my sites and client sites as well though, so it works out.

    Also we had a custom template designed for our sites that cost me over $1800.

    TalkPA’s not dead, we went through a dark period there, but I am changing things up and it will get better.

    Seriously though, there are a ton of people out their who claim they design websites and they look like sh*t and don’t work! God forbid I have avoided most of them!
