LNP: PR FORUM FOR THE POLICE!
Posted on July 16th, 2012 3 commentsREAD THE CONSTITUTION!
Read the Constitution, gentlemen. It is called Freedom of the Press. Period. End of sentence. The press exists to benefit the society at large — We the People. The press should not be an arm of nor a PR forum for any government or law enforcement agency.
Posted by Carol Evans Peterson on the Lancaster Police Facebook page under their post I reprinted here titled “ ** THE BECKY CLAUSE ** ” (click here).
Thank you, Carol. They began using that clause in every press release after I posted the name of Markeem Lamar Zink as a person of interest in the murder of Erma Kaylor on this site. They can’t seem to manage to arrest her killer, but apparently they have time to try and control the press. It is deeply scary on so many levels.
Of course, your previous employer, the Lancaster Newspapers have been nothing more than a PR arm for them for years – never questioning a thing – even when an 83-year-old woman is brutally murdered in her home – a home she never left and there was no forced entry – and yet the police have not arrested her killer sixty days later.
It is time for fresh law enforcement eyes to review this horrific case! Now!
I know that the Lancaster Newspapers apparently recently stopped publishing your column although I know nothing of the circumstances. You are more than welcome to have space here.
This site will continue twice daily publishing for the remainder of this week and then there will be a dramatic cut-back. Details will follow.[Editor's note: I am not linking to the Facebook page because people without a Facebook account cannot access it and also, there is no way I know of to link directly to the post in question. The Lancaster Police have been busy today posting all kinds of articles on "crime prevention." One of the best methods for crime prevention is for the police to arrest killers and shooters and stabbers. Maybe someone could tell them that?]

Don’t you know you are not allowed to question the government and report on their actions? How dare you. If you want to see a blatant disregard for the rights of the press and citizens, go to Columbia News and Reviews. Here you will find an article, along with an audio clip, where the president of the Columbia Borough Council starts off last Monday’s meeting by telling those in attendance that there will be no recording of the meeting and if anyone does, they will be asked to leave. Simply outrageous.

To the Lancaster Newspapers – where are you? What a disgrace!
Journalism has an unusual capacity to serve as watchdog over those whose power and position most affect citizens. The Founders recognized this to be a rampart against despotism when they ensured an independent press; courts have affirmed it; citizens rely on it.
