REFLECTING SOCIETY?
LNP photo by Marty Heisey

This photo ran today on page B-1 of the print edition and was on the home page of Lancaster Online all day. It accompanies the story, “Local fugitive sweep targets lawbreakers,” (click here).
I count eleven faces and the arm of a twelfth person. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong in this photo?
MOMENT TO MOMENT?
“But it’s about time because basically every…every facility, every institution or every organization, when you come down to it, needs to be refreshed from moment to moment… okay… and that is just a part of our society. It’s a part of nature… in other words, we have seasons… okay… we have seasons where when we’re in the fall things start dying off. In the winter they’re cold or whatever. But they all come back to life. There’s no one person.”
Prison Warden Vincent Guarini discussing his retirement today in a press conference (click here).
What a fruitcake! Is he on drugs or what?
Your season should have come and gone long ago, Guarini! We’ve had 31 years of you! Good riddance!
MEMORIAL SERVICE
There is a memorial service for Isabel Catherine Deering Bortree this evening in Honesdale, Pa (click here). Ms. Bortree was the second woman found hanging from a tree within a week in Lancaster County.
My condolences to her family. There will be more on this story tomorrow.

Seriously: There are 12 people in the picture. If it reflected normal society, 6 of them would be women. There are 3 women.

How many women on City Council? How many women judges?

Now we can move on to real minorities.

  2. Lepplerized says:

Is the Sgt Chris Leppler mentioned in the article the same one who has the civil filings against him, inlcuding the recent mortgage foreclosure for $279,000+??? WOW! Those deputies must make a lot of money. Isn’t it impossible to get a cop job if you have bad credit? If so, shouldn’t bad credit be a reason for termination?

  3. Seriously? says:

No one is saying they are a minority. I was pointing out that the picture does not reflect the stereotypical “white male” that Becky was implying. I work for the county and I can attest to the fact that the staff is diverse. Again, making something out of nothing.

  4. huh? says:

News flash: Women are not a minority. They make up 51% of the population.

  5. steve says:

I see four minorities in the pix. three women and at least one Hispanic guy in the back right off center.

  6. Seriously? says:

Actually there is one Hispanic person in the photo and 2 women. There are more than a few “minorities” who are deputies. You must be real hard up for a news lately. Making a lot out of nothing.

  7. FWIW says:

I take Sheriff’s Office for $500, Becky….. What is, why doesn’t the Sheriff’s Office have any minorities in photograph?

    Prize?

    What’s wrong with this picture?
    Possible answers:
    (a) if this is supposed to be “The Last Supper,” then there aren’t enough beards.
    (b) This is a gathering of all the people who thought Rick Santorum actually had a shot at winning the Pennsylvania primary.
    (c) It’s one reason why the Sheriff’s Department is not the best department to go undercover in the inner city.
Come on, Becky, give us the right answer. Thousands await it!
