WHOLE LOTTA CORN! – 2
Posted on February 21st, 2011 1 comment& A WHOLE LOT OF RESTING!

I still cannot find Saturday’s front page, above the fold, story on Police Chief Sadler online. Maybe that’s because the chief told us he would not rest until his department caught the sinister killer of Olga Sanchez-Reyes. Maybe that’s because the Chief promised updates on the murder investigation and there hasn’t been one in almost three months.
Maybe that’s because the Chief won’t take my phone calls but has time to have a reporter and photographer follow him around for several days and say gems like this:
“One of the things I like about working here is the food is really good, but it’s a lot of meat and potatoes. Lancaster County, it’s a lot of carbs. I love corn.”
No one doubts you’re full of corn, Chief! What we want is someone who will make our streets safe and arrest sinister killers. That’s your job. That’s what we pay you for.
And this piece of disgusting fluff ends with this:
“Right now we’re watching ‘Big Love’ and ‘Shameless.’ Back in the fall we were watching ‘Dexter,’ ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and ‘Mad Men.’ That’s good TV time. Usually by then the girls are cramming last-minute stuff for school. We seem to get uninterrupted TV time late Sunday night. That’s cool.”
You know what, Chief? I don’t give a damn what you watch on TV on Sunday nights. You know what’s not cool? That you haven’t made an arrest in the horrific arson murder of Olga Sanchez-Reyes. That’s not cool at all.
Please check back later today.

When I read this article, it reminded me of my high school newspaper, where we would feature a student of the month. Favorite color, what do you do in your spare time, etc.
I find it hard to believe that LNP hires reporters and pays them a living wage to write 5th-grade journalism stories like this.
I agree, WHO CARES what he watches on television or what he does with the family on weekends. Lacking empathy is what comes to mind. Shame on him – he could have used the reporter tailing him to highlight the professionalism of the law enforcement efforts – if they existed.
