I won’t make those arguments. The Gosselins, especially their children, and the school deserve that privacy, even if it may be only an illusion of privacy. My apologies to the Gosselins and the school.
Sunday News Editor Marv Adams in his column today, “Error on the editor,” (click here).This is making me angrier and angrier. Why does Lancaster Country Day School “deserve privacy?” Why do the Gosselins?
I had fun with the front page “article” by Associate Editor Gil Smart last Sunday on LancTalk.com. This had no business being on the front page and it offered absolutely nothing the celebrity/gossip websites or ABC, CBS and NBC news hadn’t covered. It was a blatant attempt to sell papers.
But this absurd “apology” by Marv is just plain making me angry. I have commented on LancTalk (click here) and you can discuss it here or there.
I know this is not earth shattering – but I see it as a perfect reflection of these pathetic Lancaster Newspapers.

LNP is desperate for drivel. They’re now offering their print edition for $5.15 a month.

I have second thoughts about this – maybe I underestimated(!) Marvelous Marv – “Gilbert, go out there and write a story about the Gosselin kids getting kicked out of Country Day! Leave no stone unturned! Find something new! I mean these kids are in kindergarten and can’t behave! Next week I will apologize in my column that we tell people 100,000 people in Lancaster County read (that’s a good one, isn’t it, Gil!) and we’ll get two stories out of one! We’ll run your gossip story on the front page and then I will apologize for my lapse(!) in judgment! God, I’m good!”

Gosselin as in Kate plus 8? I can’t stand that woman. She’s an attention whore who uses her kids for money. I have a lot of respect for John for calling it quits. I would not put up with my wife being a witch and money hungry!

We;ll Marv dissappoinyts once again…here I thought he might apologize for still having Gil Snooty on staff, and then goes on to puff his chest out about advertising through LNP…Hey Marv..what other local newspaper choice do any of us have??? DUH!!!!!!!!

Does the Sunday News guru still end his column with some quote from his daughter? I used to really hate that “my kid is so s-p-e-c-i-a-l” ending. The other thing that bugged me even way back in the day when the New Era actually came our on Saturdays was their last page trophy teen column. They still ran it in the combined Intell/New Era paper on Saturdays when the actual news was very thin. Ah, lad, let it go…

The Peggy Schmidt columns are the ones that drive me nuts!! “Old Dad and I …” followed by an insipid sentence or two referring to their inability to keep up with all the new-fangled gadgets and golly-gee technology changes like the horseless carriage. Talk about a waste of ink and paper, then I noticed it was also online. At any moment I’m expecting to start hearing … there’s trouble in Lancaster City and it starts with T and rhymes with D and that stands for Old DAD.
