Scott McQuilkin and Lauren Reed met in rehab at the Malvern Institute in Malvern, PA. McQuilkin, 32, was in for alcohol and drug addiction and Reed, 20, spent seven weeks for alcohol addiction.
Both left the facility several weeks ago and both fell off the wagon hard and fast. According to McQuilkin’s Facebook page, he and Reed were “in a relationship,” then in an “open relationship” and in the last update he changed his status to “single.”
On Friday, July 16, McQulkin had an altercation with his parents and was kicked out of their home. He called Heather Martin in Reinholds looking for a place to stay. She said yes and someone dropped him off at her apartment Friday evening.
Martin was not there and from all sources had never met him. She knew of him through her friendship with Reed.
Sources also report that Martin had frequent parties in her apartment. She is reportedly on a number of prescription drugs – pain killers and muscle relaxers – and is known for her willingness to share those drugs with friends.
Reed was also in the area on Friday evening and her friend, Troy Stewart, 40, picked her up late Friday evening. They went to Martin’s apartment expecting to find her – but found McQuilkin instead. The two stayed and partied – they told police McQuilkin told them he had taken some pills and he passed out – and sometime during the night he died.
Three lives were shattered that night. A close friend of Reed’s said in a phone call that Reed cooperated fully with the police. She acknowledged Reed’s problem with alcohol but said, “She does take responsibility for her actions. She feels remorse for the whole situation. She thought it was a prank.”
Writing on his body may fall under the category of “prank,” but putting a wood stick up his rectum does not. By law, it does not matter who physically did it – Stewart or Reed – they were both present and the deed was done. Both are seen as equally guilty under the law.
“She thought when he woke up he might be a little mad at her,” the friend said. “But he didn’t wake up.”
The autopsy will reveal in several weeks what drugs killed McQuilkin.

That’s a shame. I hope he didn’t overdose on narcotics. That’s the most painful way to go and I’d rather not even think about it. I hope he just passed out, and fell asleep without a lot of pain.

First off I knew Scott and I have been following this website. I need to clarify some of this information as some is correct and some is incorrect. First off Scott was not in an altercation with his family. Never would Scott hurt his family nor has he ever hurt anybody. Secondly he was invited to Martin’s house by Lauren Reed and she planned to go see him that night. She is lying to protect herself. Scott did not know Martin just as Martin has claimed she did not know him. How could he call a girl he never met and ask here to stay at her house? Reed set it up so he could stay there.Not sure who you got this information from but sounds like they are a friend of Lauren Reeds and they are twisting the truth.

I never said a physical altercation. DA Stedman said this:
“Apparently, he had a reason to find a place to stay and asked if he could go over to Ms. Martin’s apartment. Permission was granted,” Stedman said.
He needed a place to stay!
Boogs – numerous people have told me she is on multiple prescription drugs and that she is quite free with them.

Scott did speak with Heather Martin about coming to her house and he had her number from Lauren, Martin stated Scott told her he had to leave his house and was going to the Salvation Army.Martin offered her place to Scott for the weekend.I dont think a person who admits to such acts would lie about a phone call,and Martin has told this same statement to several people.

Thank you for the excellent reporting. I don’t even both with WGAL or LancasterOnline when stories break, because the facts are usually dripped out piecemeal. This articles is concise, and I appreciate your approach to stating the facts.
I was reading this website at work and a few individuals in the vicinity of my cubicle said “oh yeah, during the Roseboro case that is the first website I read to find out what was REALLY going on.”
So there you have it … 4 people in this room are LIP fans and that is a FACT!

I just want to know how Troy Stewart came to fit in this whole thing. How bizarre is it that a 40 year old is hanging out with people much younger than him. In my youth, I remember a few older people who tried to be social with my friends, and they were almost always up to no good (drug dealers, pedophiles, etc.). That’s why the whole Troy Stewart thing weirds me out.

Did Lauren Reed and Troy Stewart ever get a toxicoligy test done to see if theirs match Scott’s Mcquilkin test? As they claim he was already messed up on pills and they were just drinking. You can be charged with manslaughter if you provided the drugs. Does anybody know anything about this Troy Stewart and if he was into drugs and could of provided them?
